What is a Breast Reduction procedure?

A breast reduction procedure is a surgical procedure that reduces the size of the breast. Also known as a reduction mammoplasty, the procedure is suitable for anyone who wishes to reduce the size of their breast. Find out more about Breast Reduction surgery here.

What are Breast Reduction scars like?

The most common type of breast reduction scar is an anchor scar which goes around the areola, down the front of the breast, and along the inframammary fold.

Is breast reduction the best option for me?

Breast reduction patients often feel out of proportion or experience back or neck pain prior to having surgery.

  • Am I over the age of 18?
  • Are my breasts limiting my physical activity?
  • Am I unhappy with having breasts that are too large?
  • Do I experience irritation underneath my breasts?
  • Are my breasts causing me back, shoulder or neck pain?

If you find yourself answering yes to most of the questions above, then a breast reduction is likely to be the best choice for you.

What is the difference between a breast uplift and a breast reduction?

A breast uplift, also known as a mastopexy, and a breast reduction are often confused, whilst they are similar procedures as they do both involve relocating the areola and nipple, only a breast reduction involves removing breast tissue to dramatically change the size of a breast. Find out more about a breast uplift here.

Breast Uplift Breast Reduction

  • Improvement in back pain
  • Ability to exercise more freely with little pain or discomfort to the chest.

Breast Reduction Patient Reviews

Mr Adrian Richards is joined by a past patient, Zoe who shared her breast reduction experience.

“I became matronly, I looked matronly, my boobs were held up with a bra there was nothing there of my body that was doing it anymore and that was the reason why I choose to get a Breast Reduction. I had got to my 60th birthday, and I thought – what better present to give myself.”- Zoe, Breast Reduction Patient
