As soon as you get engaged, fantasies of visiting plushly carpeted bridal boutiques and being plied with glasses of champagne before emerging in the dream dress to – hopefully – your dewy eyed bridesmaids are inevitable.
Those tears of joy come at a cost, however, as the average price of a dress from a bridal boutique tends to start around the £1,500 mark.
But in recent months high street brands such as ASOS and Missguided have started providing an alternative – affordable bridal ranges offering dresses that cost from just £35.
FEMAIL set one bride-to-be, Siofra Brennan, 34, of East London the task of trying out four very differently priced wedding looks to see whether a budget gown can feel just as special as a designer dress for your big day.
Beforehand, I have a bespoke Bride-to-be facial at Harley Street’s The Private Clinic.
It comprises a Circadia Enzyme Peel which helps to dissolve different cellular debris and protein build up and a light Lactic Acid Peel which promotes the effective removal of the uppermost layers of dead skin cells.
Stage three is an Oxygen RX Treatment which increases the flow of blood to the skin cells and stimulates collagen synthesis, resulting in clear and luminous skin with a feeling of firmness.
The treatment costs £185 and afterwards my skin feels so soft I can hardly stop touching it.
However, my aesthetician recommends having it a month before the big day as a trial run to make sure it doesn’t disagree with your skin and again a few days before your wedding, making the total price £370.
