rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty – Luca

July 20, 2018 by

Luca is a scrub nurse working and living in London.

Luca had always felt self-conscious of his nose and after experiencing breathing issues he knew he was going to have to have surgery anyway so decided to look into having a rhinoplasty procedure to improve the appearance of his nose too.

Working in the medical industry, Luca has been fortunate enough to meet with a wide range of surgeons which helped him to make his decision to come and visit The Private Clinic where he knew only the best and most experienced surgeons worked.

“I did a lot of research before my procedure and my attention was drawn to the work of Mr Davood Fallahdar so I decided to come in to see him.”

Luca had a consultation with Mr Davood Fallahdar who has years of experience in rhinoplasty procedures. Luca used the consultation to find out more about the procedure, discuss his issues with his nose and also spoke about the additional surgery required to help improve his breathing too. Mr Fallahdar was able to recommend the best techniques to help Luca achieve the results that he desired as well as helping to improve his breathing too.

After meeting with Dr Fallahdar, Luca quickly decided that this was surgeon that he wanted to work with and decided to book in for his closed rhinoplasty and alar base reduction surgery.

On the day of surgery Luca felt relatively calm and was made to feel comfortable by the staff at The Fitzroy Hospital in London. Everything was explained to Luca to help him feel informed about the process and he met with Mr Fallahdar again before the procedure took place to go through the finer details of the procedure and ensure that Luca was happy with the chosen techniques.

Waking up after the procedure Luca did not feel any pain but more of a feeling of pressure around his nose. He stayed in hospital overnight and was well looked after the by the team at our Fitzroy Hospital before being able to leave the next day.

“I really appreciated the deep care I received during my stay at The Fitzroy Hospital; the staff were always ensuring that I felt comfortable and that I was not in pain.”

Luca was required to keep a nasal splint on his nose for 15 days post-procedure before he then attended clinic again to remove it. There was still some swelling present but Luca was instantly in love with the new shape of his nose.

“As well as my breathing problem being sorted, I really love my new nose – I feel really confident and when I look in the mirror I am happy with what I see.”

“I love the way they treat patients at The Private Clinic, I felt really comfortable and calm throughout my time spent with them. I would recommend anyone to visit The Private Clinic for a consultation and I am sure they will make you happy.”

Former BAAPS President Rajiv Grover, who compiles the audit on an annual basis has released a statement saying that “The 2019 BAAPS audit is very positive from our point of view as it shows that whilst the overall number of procedures has dropped, the work we’ve been doing to educate about the life-changing implications of cosmetic surgery and the need to reflect carefully before taking this route is working. We’re seeing greater emphasis from surgeons on psychological assessment, as mental health awareness has taken centre stage both politically and in the news agenda which is so important when putting patient’s interests first.”

We agree with this statement and at The Private Clinic we always put patient’s well-being and safety at the forefront of what we do. We have also been doing a lot of research into non-surgical procedures to help patients reach their goals without having to commit to the downtime that surgery often comes with.

Other popular procedures in our clinic have included:

Breast Auto Augmentation

This procedure is becoming very popular with women who are seeking implant removal but still wish to maintain an uplifted and pert appearance following removal of their implants. A breast auto augmentation involves relocating the patients natural breast tissue and moving it upwards within the breast to fill out the upper pole.

Preservation Rhinoplasty

Preservation Rhinoplasty was another new additional to our procedure offerings in 2019 with Mr Dario Rochira pioneering the new rhinoplasty technique at our Harley Street clinic. The technique is a lot less invasive than traditional rhinoplasty surgery and involves a precise remodelling technique to change the structure of the nose without breaking the nose and preserving the nasal ligaments. A preservation rhinoplasty also boasts a decreased recovery time and minimal bruising and swelling making it ideal for patients who are not keen to hide away for weeks following surgery. Find out more here.

Teardrop Implants

Breast augmentations are still one of our most popular procedures at The Private Clinic however the desired goals of the patients have changed. Women are now seeking smaller and more natural shaped implants such as teardrop implants. We believe this simply is a sign of the times with lifestyles becoming more active and the trend of having larger breasts is now less desired in comparison to smaller and more in proportion breast sizes.

What are “Daddy Do-Overs”?

August 31, 2019 by Julia Morgan Leave a Comment

Mommy makeovers are a popular procedure among women typically after pregnancy as they want to get their bodies back to how they looked before pregnancy. Mommy makeovers typically involve a combination of procedures such as liposuction, breast lift and tummy tuck. Now, there has been a rise in men who want to undergo different procedures to get away from their “dad bods”. This new male cosmetic trend is popularly known as “daddy do-over” for liposuction treatments the most popular treatment areas include chest, abdomen and flanks.

Nonetheless, liposuction is not the only cosmetic produce rising in popularity among men; according to The American Society of Plastic Surgeons more than 1 million men have had cosmetic surgery in 2018, this is a 29% increase since 2000.

The most popular Cosmetic Surgery procedures for men include:

Rhinoplasty (Nose Job) to correct the nasal bridge, adjust the tip of the nose or to refine the base of the nose.

At The Private Clinic, we offer different types of rhinoplasty procedure to suit the different patient needs.

  • Standard Rhinoplasty: this procedure focus on achieving a full nose correction (bridge, nose tip and alar base).
  • Septo-Rhinoplasty: This procedure consists of combining a standard rhinoplasty and the correction of a deviated septum.
  • Rhino-Tip: This procedure aims to correct the tip of the nose and nostrils.
  • Preservation Rhinoplasty: An innovative type of rhinoplasty less invasive than traditional rhinoplasty procedure that consists of preserving the structure of the nose providing natural-looking results with minimal downtime.

Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is also a popular procedure among men to rejuvenate their appearance. Male chest reduction is also one of the most desired procedures for men. Male chest reduction or Gynecomastia is a procedure to reduce excess fat on the male chest. There are different options available to remove the excess fat around this area, including VASER Liposuction, MicroLipo or Surgical Liposuction. Our specialised surgeons will be able to recommend the best procedure for you.

“My man boobs were always a problem and I felt embarrassed in the changing rooms after going to the gym. I had a fit body and good physique but with breasts!I had Vaser Lipo and after reduced bruising and swelling the results look impressive! I would recommend it to anyone!” Alex

Varicose veins, thread veins and facial veins are also a cause of concern for many men who seek treatment for aesthetic and health reasons. Martin, one of our varicose vein patients underwent VenaSeal treatment to treat his varicose veins at The Private Clinic and now he cannot be happier with his results.

“I couldn’t be happier with results and I would absolutely recommend the treatment to anyone who is suffering from the condition.  I was so impressed with Dr Rittoo and his team, they made me feel completely at ease at every stage of the procedure.” Martin.

Not only surgical procedures are becoming increasingly popular for men but also non-invasive treatments such as dermal fillers and Botox are seeing a rise in demand among male patients.

Dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally produced by our bodies able to restore the loss of volume in several areas of the face. Tear trough fillers, nose-to-mouth fillers, jawline filler and chin fillers are the most sought-after types of filler for men to smooth and gently rejuvenate and refresh the face.

Botox is a highly demanded treatment to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and is ideal to prevent the formation of new ones.

At The Private Clinic, we work with top consultant plastic surgeons, liposuction and body contouring surgeons and aesthetic doctors highly specialised in their fields.

Clinic locations across the UK, Harley Street (London), Bristol, Northampton, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham  and Buckinghamshire.

Common Nose Shape Concerns that a Rhinoplasty can help with

August 22, 2019 by Rebecca Giffen Leave a Comment

There are a number of reasons why someone would choose to have a rhinoplasty or nose job. More often than not it is because they are unhappy with the appearance of the nose and wish to correct the issue that is causing this.

In this blog we look at some of the common nose shape concerns that a nose job can help with;

Rhinoplasty for the bridge of the nose

Sometimes the bridge of the nose can be wide or flat across the bridge leaving patients to feel unhappy with the broad appearance. This type of concern is more common in Asian, African and Hispanic ethnicities. Rhinoplasty surgery can help to correct this concern by reducing the width of the nasal bridge, adjusting the tip of the nose and refining the base of the nose. Following surgery patients can expect to see an improvement in the overall shape and contour of the nose. Rebecca just checking we still do African noses.

Rhinoplasty for under or over projected nose tip

An under-projected nose can cause the nose to not stick out enough resulting in a flatter appearance to the face. This may be caused by a previous injury or it could just be the natural formation of your nose.  An over-projected nose in comparison can cause the nose to appear larger or hooked – especially from a profile view.  Rhinoplasty can help to correct both of these problems; for an under-projected or flat nose the tip can be repositioned to help it project further outwards. Rhinoplasty for an over-projected nose often involves repositioning the tips cartilage or even the bone from the bridge of the nose.

Correcting a bulbous tip through rhinoplasty

A bulbous tip can cause your nose to look out of proportion to the rest of your nose and face and is one of the most common reasons why patients seek nose reshaping surgery. A rhinoplasty procedure can effectively correct a bulbous or rounded nasal tip by reshaping the lower lateral cartilage which results in a much softer and more triangular appearance to the tip of the nose.

Rhinoplasty to reduce the size of the nose

An oversized nose can often sit out of proportion to the rest of the patients facial features and patients more often than not come to us seeking surgery following unwanted attention from others as well as their own dislike for the appearance of their nose. Altering the size of the nose is a more complex rhinoplasty procedure as it involves reshaping the entire nose and often reducing the nasal tip. The results from this type of surgery however can be life changing, helping the patient achieve a more balanced facial profile.

Rhinoplasty to correct a pointy nose

A nose that has a pointy appearance is often the result of projecting nasal septum cartilage or excess cartilage at the tip of the nose. A rhinoplasty procedure can be performed to reduce the cartilage to give the nose an overall less pointy and softer looking appearance to the tip.

Rhinoplasty to fix a crooked nose

A crooked nose if often a result from trauma such as a sporting injury but in some cases it can be hereditary meaning you were most likely born with it or it developed this way over time. A crooked nose is usually asymmetric and vary from being minor to very extreme. A crooked nose can be difficult to correct through a rhinoplasty and is classed as a more complex procedure so it is important to have realistic expectations before going ahead with surgery. The results from a crooked nose correction surgery can be very effective often resulting in a much straighter nose and a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Rhinoplasty to correct a nasal hump

Nasal humps or nose-bridge humps can come in a range of different sizes and often cause it to become more of a prominent facial feature that many patients are unhappy with. There are a variety of rhinoplasty options when it comes to fixing a nasal hump with some patients wishing to remove the prominent hump completely whereas others may choose to maintain some fullness to the bridge of the nose. Your surgeon will be able to go through the different options and realistic expectations to help you make a more informed decision.
