Facelift Surgery

Top facelift and blepharoplasty cosmetic surgeons UK for 2019

February 7, 2020 by Rebecca Giffen Leave a Comment

All facial cosmetic surgery procedures at The Private Clinic are performed by some of the top facial consultant plastic surgeons in the UK. Our plastic surgeons are highly educated, have thousands of hours of surgical experience, training and medical experience and many of which hold memberships with key bodies in healthcare such as; The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and Royal College of Surgeons (RCS).

Mr Davood Fallahdar, BSc, MB ChB (Hons), MD FRCS (Plast.), MicroSurg (Hons), ORL H&N – GMC Number: 4686602

Mr Davood Fallahdar is a Board Certified Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon with over 15 years’ experience specialising in facial surgery.

Mr Fallahdar started performing his specialised one stitch facelift and temporal facelift technique at The Private Clinic last year which was a big breakthrough for facial surgery which was otherwise starting to see a decline.

The downtime required from traditional facial surgery was no longer fitting into many of our patient’s busy work and social lives, but non-surgical alternatives were unable to give them the results that they desired. The one stitch and temporal facelift has since become a very popular treatment thanks to its reduced downtime giving many the ability to return to work within days of having the procedure.

Mr Davood Fallahdar is also very experienced in many other facial surgery procedures such as neck lifts and eyelid surgery. He is available for consultations at our London Harley Street Clinic.

Mr Roberto Uccellini, MD – GMC Number: 7416337

Mr Roberto Uccellini is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with a keen interest in facial aesthetics.

Mr Uccellini has performed some incredible facial transformations using the method of fat transfer also known as The Organic Facelift.

Fat Transfer to the face has become an increasingly popular alternative to using fillers and implants. The innovative technique of fat grafting to the face utilises the patient’s own fat tissue to restore volume to the face which can also compliment the affect of the surgical facelift or blepharoplasty procedure which Mr Uccellini is also able to perform.

Mr Navid Jallali, BSc, MB ChB (Hons), MD FRCS (Plast.) – GMC Number: 4404969

Mr Navid Jallali is a leading UK plastic surgeon who is highly renowned for his ability to perform microsurgical reconstruction for the head and neck.

Mr Jallali regularly performs advanced facial surgery procedures including Rhinoplasty, Facelift and Blepharoplasty procedures.

Mr Navid Jallali is available for consultations at our London Harley Street clinic.

Mr Dario Rochira, BS, MD – GMC Number: 6130664

Mr Dario Rochira is a highly experienced and respected Plastic & Cosmetic surgeon with a keen interest in facial surgery.

Mr Rochira believes that the surgical facelift still remains the best option when a natural and long lasting look is desired. Mr Rochira is also very experienced in carrying out eyelid surgery on the upper or lower eyelid regularly performing this operation on both men and women. He also can perform an eyebrow lift to correct descent or drooping of the eyebrow.

Mr Dario Rochira is available for consultation at our clinics in London Harley Street and Bristol.

Mr Adel Fattah, PhD FRCS(plast) – GMC Number: 4764599

Mr Adel Fattah is a Consultant Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon who undertakes all areas of general plastic surgery but has specialist experience in facial surgery including facelifts and blepharoplasty procedures.

In the NHS, Mr Fattah’s reconstructive specialist interest is in facial palsy reconstruction which deals with the correction of facial asymmetry so he is very experienced in all aspects of facial surgery. He takes great care to provide a holistic and natural approach to ensure the best results can be obtained.

Mr Adel Fattah is available for consultations at our Manchester clinic.

Procedures that complement a facelift

August 30, 2019 by Rebecca Giffen Leave a Comment

A facelift procedure provides many benefits such as softening deep creases and wrinkles as well as tightening loose skin to give an overall more refreshed and lifted appearance. For some patients however, a facelift is just the start in order for them to achieve their final goals. There are a variety of procedures available that are perfect to help complement a facelift which can either be performed at the same time, as part of your treatment plan or as a continued effort to help maintain the final results of your facelift.

Necklift

The neck is often forgotten when it comes to anti-ageing treatments and as a result will often stand out alongside your newly rejuvenated face, in some cases providing others with a clue that you have may have had a plastic surgery procedure.

A necklift combined with a facelift will help to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles that appear around the neck as well as removing any excess skin or fat giving your neck a smoother and more defined look.

Blepharoplasty

A blepharoplasty or an eyelid lift/eye bag removal procedure is another great procedure to complement a facelift as it will often target the lines and wrinkles that are not reduced by a facelift alone.

A blepharoplasty can be performed at the same time as a facelift (and necklift) to give an overall complete facial rejuvenation procedure. The procedure involves removing excess tissue from around the eyes which can cause your eyes to look tired and sad. The result is eyes that are more youthful looking but still natural and when performed by an experienced surgeon.

Fat Transfer

Fat transfer or fat repositioning on the face is a great complementary procedure to a facelift. A facelift is great at lifting the skin and reducing wrinkles but it is not always able to restore the sunken appearance that can develop as we begin to age and areas such as the mid-face, cheeks and chin can lose volume.

Fat transfer to the face is known as The Organic Facelift as it utilises your own fat tissue from another part of your body such as the thighs or abdomen and it is then injected back into your face where volume-loss has occurred. Fat transfer can often be performed at the same time as facelift surgery as part of a complete facial rejuvenation procedure.

Non-Surgical Facelift Treatments

There are of course lots of non-surgical treatments that are perfect complementary treatments to a facelift such as;

Dermal Fillers

Dermal filler treatment helps to add volume to the face and soften wrinkles. Dermal filler can be used in a number of areas such as; nasolabial folds, cheeks, glabellar lines, lips, tear trough and for nose or chin reshaping. This treatment is a great way to either enhance your facelift procedure or to maintain the results as your face will still continue to age post-surgery.

Wrinkle Injections

Wrinkle injections or botox as it is more commonly known is another great way to help treat the areas that a facelift does not. Whereas a facelift generally tends to focus on the mid-face, wrinkle injections can smooth lines and wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes which will give you a more youthful and well-rested appearance.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

A facelift may help to improve loosening muscle and excess skin but if the quality of your skin is experiencing issues then these will continue to remain post-surgery. Laser skin resurfacing is one of the most innovative ways to rejuvenate damaged skin and tackle signs of ageing such as brown spots and pigmentation. At The Private Clinic we offer three different types of treatments which allows us to create a tailored experience to suit your skin’s needs and achieve the best possible outcome.

Pigmentation Laser Resurfacing treatment before after

Make the most of your facelift by pairing it with our non-surgical treatment options to help keep your skin in the best quality. Our expert skin therapists will be able to create a treatment plan to work with you to help maintain the results achieved following your facelift procedure.

Non-Surgical Eye Lift

A Handy Plasma non-surgical eyelift is a great alternative to a blepharoplasty procedure. The procedure aims to improve the appearance of the loose eyelid skin and puffy eyelids. The plasma treatment works by stimulating the contraction, shortening and tightening of skin fibres which then results in a tightening of the skin.

The Private Clinic

During your facelift consultation our expert surgeon will be able to discuss if any complementary procedures would benefit you to help you achieve your desired result. For some, additional surgery may not be necessary and just good skin care following surgery may be advised but for others they may need to have realistic expectations of what to expect.

One stitch secret face lift and the temporal face lift

November 16, 2018 by Rebecca Giffen Leave a Comment

Ageing can take a great toll on our faces and it is often one of the first places that you begin to notice changing slightly in appearance. The skin on the face can start to sag causing lines and wrinkles to become more noticeable.

When considering treatments to help restore a more youthful-looking face there are a lot of non-surgical options but these will only give you temporary results. A facelift procedure is a surgical alternative however, many don’t choose this option as it typically involves significant downtime.

Here at The Private Clinic, we are excited to launch the ‘One Stitch Secret Facelift’ and ‘Temporal Lift’ with Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Mr Davood Fallahdar, BSc, MB ChB(Hons), MD FRCS(Plast), MicroSurg (Hons), ORL H&NSurg. GMC Number: 4686602 and Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Mr Roberto Uccellini, MD. GMC Number 7416337

These are still surgical procedures but they only use one incision point and the downtime is minimal in relation to a full surgical facelift.

What is a one stitch facelift?

A one stitch facelift procedure is performed under local anaesthetic. The surgeon will make a small incision within the hairline that no one will be able to see. A single stitch will pass through the deep tissue within the cheek before being tightened and secured. You will then have dissolvable stitches and be able to leave shortly after the procedure.

What are the benefits of a one stitch secret facelift?

A one stitch secret facelift is ideal at targeting the mid-face and can also help to improve the jawline. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, so there are no risks associated with a general anaesthetic. There is a lower risk of swelling and bruising and you will have minimal scarring within the hairline. The external scar is only 1 stitch as the rest of the stitching is carried out internally.   You will have minimal downtime and many patients are back to work in a day.

What is a temporal facelift?

The temporal facelift targets the eyebrows to the mid-face area and is also performed under local anaesthetic. A short incision is made above the hairline at the temples before the underlying muscle and SMAS membranes in this area are tightened. It is also common for a blepharoplasty to be performed at the same time as this procedure. The incision is then closed with dissolvable stitches and you will be able to go home shortly after the procedure.

What are the benefits of a temporal facelift?

A temporal facelift is ideal for targeting the upper face and is performed under local anaesthetic. There is a low risk of swelling and bruising and the short 5-6cm scar will be hidden within the temporal hairline. The majority of patients are back to work quickly and have very little downtime.

What is the difference between a one stitch facelift and a temporal facelift?

The one stitch facelift and temporal facelift are very similar in that they both are performed under local anaesthetic and involve minimal downtime.

A one stitch facelift, however, is designed to target the mid-face area and lower face area whereas the temporal facelift is best for the upper face.

Why do our patients choose to have a One Stitch secret facelift or a temporal facelift?

Our patients request this type of facelift because they do not want to take weeks off from a busy lifestyle, with work or family commitments. It is also an ideal choice if you do not want anyone to know about the procedure because of the minimal bruising and downtime. Lastly, the one stitch facelift and temporal facelift are not as dramatic as a facelift can be and are ideal choices for anyone in their 40’s, 50’s and 60’s.

Why choose The Private Clinic for a one stitch secret facelift or temporal facelift?

Surgical Facelift Options

June 6, 2018 by Steffanie Griffiths Leave a Comment

As we age, our face is responsible for most signs of ageing – a part of our body also most exposed. In the natural ageing process, our skin loses its elasticity and volume. Combined with gravity, this, unfortunately, causes our face to draw downwards, nearer the bone, often causing unwanted sagginess and pesky folds and lines! To help turn back these effects of time, a range of surgical facelift options are available, giving us incredible youthful and natural-looking results. Facelifts represent the most advanced and refined youth restoration procedures available, allowing you to obtain substantial, impressive improvements.

  1. What is a surgical facelift?

A facelift, or rhytidoplasty procedure, is the most comprehensive and appropriate answer to the ageing process and tissue laxity. Softening the features of the face, the procedure restores a fresher, younger look, and creates a tighter and ultimately ‘lifted’ appearance.

With a facelift, major folds and wrinkles of the face can be corrected, excessive sagging skin can be reduced and jowls can be removed. Soft tissue loss from the cheeks can also be corrected and the fallen comers of the mouth, that give a tired and sad look, can be elevated. And how does it work? In the procedure, an incision is made, and skin and tissue ‘lifted,’ then repositioned, and any surplus discarded. Absorbable stitches can then be used to close the incisions.

At The Private Clinic, we only ever used refined and minimally invasive modern Facelift techniques, to ensure you will achieve completely natural-looking results.

As we discuss, there are different variations of the procedure available, targeting different areas. In a surgeon facelift consultation, you can be advised on what is the best treatment for your individual requirements.

  1. What are the different facelift types?

There are several forms of surgical facelift available. This is in terms of the areas targeted and technique used. In past decades facelift techniques have evolved greatly and still, there is a considerable variety of preference amongst surgeons, in which techniques are used, and this, in part, also reflects on where the scars are placed.

Regarding areas targeted, at The Private Clinic we have options to target all major areas. We offer the Full Facelift, Mini Facelift, Forehead and Brow Lift, Mid-Face Lift, and Facelift and Blepharoplasty, tailoring the treatment and technique used to each patient’s unique needs. Please see outlined what can be achieved with each procedure and the scarring and incision lines to expect…

Facelift Type What can be achieved? Scarring/Incision Lines*
Full Facelift -Achieve a drastic improvement to your whole face, including a more youthful, fresher appearance

-Can improve lines between the nose and mouth, surplus skin in the jowls area, and heavy or low brows, for example. Any sagging below the jaw can be corrected via another incision below the chin

-Typically, an incision is made in the temple, which runs across the hairline, then round to behind the ears, prior to lifting both the lower and upper face, and removing surplus skin, deep lines, and folds. Scarring is therefore usually along your hairline and around the areas, so scars can be hidden by the hair.
Mini Facelift

One Stitch Facelift

-Focuses on correcting the jowls and neck

-The treatment is the best choice for those with some jowls and experiencing moderate skin laxity

– Less invasive than a full facelift and is carried out under local anaesthetic.

– The results are more subtle in comparison to a traditional facelift but still can provide a firmer, tighter and more rejuvenated appearance.

-Much shorter incisions, that run from the patients temples to the crease in front of the ear

-Minimal scarring compared to the full facelift

-Minimal downtime

-Low risk of swelling & bruising

-Scars are completely hidden under the hairline (5-6cm scar)

Forehead and Brow lift (Browplasty) -Lifts the forehead, elevates brows and corrects deep lines

-Also improves the overall look of your face

– This depends on the individual patient, but in some cases, incisions are within hair-bearing skin on the scalp, or above the brow
Mid-Face Lift (Malar/ Cheeklift) -Restores both the lower eyelid region and cheeks

-Lifts sagging cheeks and gives the face a rejuvenated look

-Can also correct deep nasal folds

-The incisions lines for the Mid-Face Lift are usually hidden in the hair

Facelift and Blepharoplasty  (Eyelid Surgery) -A combination procedure which improves the eyelids and face overall -The incision lines/scarring involved in the facelift areas above.

-For a blepharoplasty procedure, incisions are made along the upper or lower eyelid, or both, depending on your needs

*Please note that although a facelift leaves some degree of scarring, expert surgeons will ensure facelift incisions are carefully planned to be well hidden and inconspicuous. Most scars are also concealed by the hairline. Scars will also gradually fade with good care and will become flat, making them nearly unnoticeable. Be cautious of unprotected sun exposure and smoking, to prevent scars worsening. Unprotected sun exposure causes scars to thicken and darken and smoking greatly interferes with the healing and final quality of the scars.

You are also able to combine a facelift with non-surgical treatments, to achieve particular results. For example, we recommend for some patients, a facelift combined with lipostructure (fat grafting to the face), which can both be carried out at the same time. This can fill the defects caused by volume loss, which can have outstanding results. For example, the hollow of the cheek and under eye area can be greatly rejuvenated with fat grafting. Our industry-leading, highly qualified surgeon, Mr Roberto Uccellini, who specialises in Facelift Surgery and is located in our London Harley Street, often combines facelift procedures and fat grafting at the same time under local anaesthetic.

Other ancillary procedures, such as dermal fillers, laser resurfacing and Botox can also be used in combination with Facelifts.

  1. How long is the procedure?

In regards to the procedure day, each of the facelift options discussed will last between 1-3 hours, with those that are more extensive taking longer. Many require local anaesthesia, although, general anaesthesia is required for most full facelift patients. Depending on the procedure, an overnight stay in the hospital may also be necessary.

  1. Recovery/ Healing and Timings Involved

The Private Clinic advise that you take 2 weeks leave from work post procedure, although, this ultimately depends on the nature of your profession, and the type of facelift chosen. At your consultation, we can recommend what is best for you.

In regards to recovery and side effects after treatment, the affected area will first of all be swollen and may be slightly numb around the incisions, with some bruising. Any swelling and pain you may experience, should, however, have settled down significantly in the second week. For those without absorbable stitches, stitches will be removed after 7 days or sometimes, 2 weeks, depending on the patient.

By 2-4 weeks post procedure, any bruising will be cleared, the ‘tight skin’ feeling should have improved, and any pain should now be minimal.

At a month post procedure, swelling should have reduced by 90%. Your skin may still feel slightly numb however – this can last up to approximately 4-6 months.

For the Facelift and Blepharoplasty combined procedure, all of the above is true. However, stitches for blepharoplasty will be removed 4-5 days after treatment, and it can take up a couple of months for your eyelids to completely settle.

Your surgical team should provide you with more detailed information about the post-surgery period, and be able to answer any questions you have regarding healing and recovery, at any stage.

  1. How long will my results last?

Results from each of the facelift procedures, including the combined facelift and blepharoplasty procedure, can sustain for several years, and having a good skincare regime and lifestyle can also help lengthen the effects.

Why choose The Private Clinic?

We offer highly skilled and extensively experienced plastic surgeons for our facelift surgery procedures, who represent some of the best for facelifts in the UK and achieve impressive results.  We know that a facelift is not a ‘one-size-fits-all’ procedure, and all of our patients will always have a bespoke solution, tailored to their desired outcome and suitability.

What are the options for a facelift or non-surgical facelift?

March 31, 2018 by Steffanie Griffiths Leave a Comment

As we get older, it is our face that is responsible for revealing most tell-tale signs of ageing – an area of the body we also expose the most. The natural ageing process causes the skin to lose elasticity and volume, which along with gravity, inevitably leads the face to draw downwards and nearer the bone, often leading to unwanted lines, folds and sagginess! To help turn back the time on your face, several non-surgical and surgical facelift options are available, offering youth-restoring, natural-looking results.

Surgical Facelift

Mid Facelift with The Private Clinic

A face or neck lift, otherwise known as a rhytidoplasty procedure, is a surgical procedure that can  tighten loose skin around your face, jawline and neck region to achieve a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. The procedure works by first making an incision, lifting skin and tissue prior to repositioning it, and discarding any excess. There are actually five face variations of the facelift, addressing different facial areas, and these are the full facelift, mini facelift, forehead and brow lift, mid-face lift and combined facelift and blepharoplasty procedure:

  • Full Facelift: This procedure can achieve a dramatic improvement to your whole face, giving a younger-looking, naturally fresher look. An incision is commonly made at the temple, running along the hairline and round to behind the ears, before lifting the lower and upper face, and removing excess skin, folds and deep lines. The procedure can improve low or heavy brows, deep lines between the mouth and nose and any excess skin in the jowls region, for example. Sagging under the jaw can also be corrected with additional incision under the chin (Pictured right).
  • Mini Facelift: Focusing on enhancing the jowls and cheeks in the lower region of the face, this procedure is best for patients with moderate skin laxity and presence of some jowls. The incisions in the Mini Face Lift are much shorter, running from the temples to the natural crease found in front of the ear, and the procedure offers minimal scaring with shorter recovery in comparison to the full face lift.
  • Forehead and Brow lift (browplasty) – This procedure lifts your forehead, elevating the brows and removing deep lines, and will enhance the overall appearance of your face too.
  • Mid-Face Lift (Cheeklift) – A mid-face lift restores the cheeks and lower eyelid area. Sagging, tired cheeks become lifted and the face has a restored, rejuvenated appearance. This treatment can also resolve deep nasal folds.
  • Facelift and Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) – This is a combination procedure used to rejuvenate the eyelids and face.

All of these procedures take between 1-3 hours, with the more extensive procedures taking longer. Many of the procedures only require local anaesthesia, but most patients need general anaesthesia for a full facelift. Depending on the treatment, an overnight hospital stay may also be required. Facelift results can last for several years, and a good skincare routine and healthy lifestyle can help prolong the effects.

To determine the appropriate procedure for you, your Consultant Reconstructive and Plastic Surgeon should assess your skin quality, general health and facial structure. With each patient having a unique face, an expert surgeon should also tailor your surgical facelift procedure to your individual requirements.

One Stitch Facelift

As well as the surgical facelift, we are also able to offer the one-stitch facelift or 3D Facelift procedure is much less invasive than a full facelift and can be safely carried out under local anaesthetic. The results are a little more subtle in comparison and very effective in producing a firmer, tighter and more rejuvenated appearance to the face. The one-stitch facelift targets the mid-face but can also help to improve the jawline. The temporal facelift is performed in a similar way but this option instead targets the upper face.

Both procedures are performed under local anaesthetic and have minimal downtime with low risk of bruising and swelling meaning the majority of patients are back to work within 1-2 days.

How to look 10 years younger in 10 days?

You may have seen the programme ’10 Years Younger in 10 Days’ on Channel 5 featuring Dr Tapan Patel who performed a non-surgical facelift on patient Sarah. There are many aesthetic treatment options out there to help you look younger in a short space of time including Dermal Fillers and thread lifts which you can find out more information on below. Many of our cosmetic surgery procedures these days also require a lot less downtime so a one stitch facelift may be an option if you are looking to restore youth to the face but what about the rest of your body? It is not just our faces that can age us, sagging skin and excess fat can also make us look and feel older. Plastic surgery procedures such as breast uplifts, breast reductions and tummy tucks are becoming popular with patients looking to feel more youthful and excess fat can also be targeted with our range of body contouring procedures such as coolsculpting which can be performed in as little as 34 minutes and requires no downtime. To find out more about looking younger, contact us to book a consultation with one of our experts who will be able to suggest the best treatment plan for you.

Non-Surgical Facelift

Not everyone is willing to have extensive surgery to turn back the years. So we’ve suggested some non-surgical facelift options that can also provide excellent results, including the Thread Lift, 8 Point Lift, Thermage, Face Fat Transfer and Dermal Fillers. These are all walk-in-out procedures, with no or minimal downtime, and usually take under an hour to complete, aside from the Face Fat Transfer taking approximately 90 minutes:

  • Thread Lift: This revolutionary method lifts sagging regions of the face with no need for incisions! The technique uses small biodegradable sutures fitted with bi-directional cones, which work to raise loose tissue on sagging cheeks or jowls, resolving wrinkles, deep lines and a loss of facial volume as well as provide jaw line definition. Offering results lasting up to 18 months, the procedure is able to target the lower jaw, eyebrows, cheek and neck. At The Private Clinic, we offer two variations of the Thread Lift – the PDO Thread Lift and Silhouette Soft Thread Lift.  Thread lift treatments are available in London Harley Street, Birmingham, Bristol, Buckinghamshire, Leeds, Manchester and Northampton.
  • 8 Point Lift: The specialised lifting and volumising treatment uses high quality dermal fillers in 8 key facial areas to lift ageing features and rejuvenate the face: the tear trough, mid-face, cheek structure, nasolabial folds, lip corners, pre-jowl area, jawlines and cheek fillers. Also referred to as the ‘liquid’ or ‘fluid facelift’ the procedure uses a precise technique to tackle soft tissue loss, and provides a more complete solution than singular filler treatments. Results for this procedure also last up to 18 months. The 8 point lift is available in London Harley Street, Birmingham, Bristol, Buckinghamshire, Leeds, Manchester and Northampton.
  • Thermage: Offering more subtle and natural-looking results, this technique uses radiofrequency energy for tightening loose areas, by stimulating natural collagen production. The procedure can target the majority of the neck, facial and décolletage areas, and effects can last for several years. Thermage is available in London Harley Street.
  • A Face Fat Transfer is a great option for those missing volume on the face. The most ‘natural’ facelift option, results are particularly soft and minimal chance of infection or scarring exists. The procedure uses minimally-invasive Vaser Liposuction to remove stubborn areas of fat from any donor site you wish. The fat then becomes refined and injected within the face, to achieve volume and lift hollow areas. Treatment Results can last for several years. Face fat transfer treatment is available in London Harley Street.
  • Dermal Fillers present a popular non-invasive solution for resolving wrinkles and fine lines, contouring the face and restoring volume to facial areas hollowed due to ageing. The procedure involves a small amount of filler, containing hyaluronic acid, being injected into the skin via an ultrafine needle. A few of the corrections possible with dermal fillers include filling out Naso-labial folds (nose to mouth lines), filling in the hollowed area under the eye, adding volume to and defining the cheek and lifting and defining the jaw line. The effects of the treatment should last for approximately 4-8 months but will gradually fade. At this point, you can choose to have a top up treatment, or if you choose to discontinue injections, the dermal filler gel will simply biodegrade and disappear. Dermal filler treatment is available in London Harley Street, Birmingham, Bristol, Buckinghamshire, Leeds, Manchester and Northampton.
  • Ultherapy is a non-surgical skin tightening procedure that is suitable for the face, neck, chin and eyebrows. Using micro-focused ultrasound with visualisation (MFU-V) energy the treatment is ale to target depths of the skin not achievable by any other non-invasive cosmetic device. The energy stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin to reverse the visible signs of ageing and provides a significant lift to the layers of tissue which other laser are not FDA cleared to treat. Ultherapy is available in London Marylebone and Stoke Poges, Bucks.
  • CoolSculpting to the chin is another great option for those looking for minimally invasive procedures for the face. CoolSculpting is a fat reduction treatment and is suitable for use on the chin. Excess fat on the chin can cause us to look older than we are and reducing this area of fat can instantly change the shape and overall appearance of the jawline. CoolSculpting does not require any needles or anesthesia. It uses controlled cooling to selectively target and destroy only the fat cells that are being treated. The fat cells are then broken down and removed by the body over time. Treatment time can take as little as 35 minutes and there is no downtime meaning you will be able to return to your everyday activities included work and exercise immediately after the procedure. CoolSculpting for the neck is available in Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, London Marylebone and Stoke Poges, Bucks.

What to expect after a Facelift

January 22, 2018 by Rebecca Giffen Leave a Comment

A facelift is a great procedure for restoring some youth to the face by tightening loose skin. However it is not a quick fix and you will need to dedicate the time post-surgery for healing to ensure you achieve the best results.  The healing time for a face lift can depending on your own personal healing time and the type of facelift procedure you had.

Consultant surgeon, Mr Mrinal Supriya talks us through what to expect on average during the four stages of recovery from Facelift Surgery

Days 1 – 7 Post Op Facelift Surgery

  • You will have a swollen face that may extend to the eyelids and forehead depending on the areas treated. (Top Tip – Taking arnica tablets post-surgery may help reduce this)
  • You may have a drain and a lot of dressing after your procedure but these are often removed the following day.
  • You will need to sleep with your head elevated and wear a compression garment overnight.
  • Eating may feel uncomfortable initially so avoid hard chewy food.
  • You will need to take antibiotics and pain killers for the first week and remember to keep hydrated too.
  • Your skin may feel numb around the incisions.
  • You will need to refrain from getting your face/hair wet for 48 hours. (Top Tip – Always use a clean towel and pat dry rather than rub)
  • You will not be able to wear make-up until at least a week after the procedure, and even then no make-up should be applied around the stitches.
  • You will not be able to wear tops that have small or tight necks.

Days 7 – 14 Post Op Facelift Surgery

  • If you don’t have removable stitches they will be removed during this time; either after 7 days or sometimes after 2 weeks.
  • Any pain or swelling should have settled down significantly.
  • You may still experience numbness and tightness.
  • Bruising may still be visible.

Days 15 – 30 Post Op Facelift Surgery

  • Bruising should be cleared up by this point.
  • Pain should also be minimal and the feeling of tight skin should have improved.
  • You will be able to return back to work during this time.

Day 30 and Beyond Post Op Facelift Surgery

  • Your swelling should have reduced now by 90%
  • You may still have numbness of the skin which can take around 4-6 months to improve.  Facelift Procedure by Mr Uccellini

Combined Blepharoplasty and Facelift Procedures

In some cases it may recommended that you have a combined upper/lower blepharoplasty with a facelift procedure and many patients decide to have this at the same time both for the improved results but also for the joint recovery times as if you are already swelled/bruised from a facelift then the additional bruising from a blepharoplasty will sit alongside and heal well against the bruising that you may already have from the facelift procedure.
