Botox Injections

Botox near me

August 5, 2019 by Rebecca Giffen Leave a Comment

Botox otherwise known as Botulinum toxin is an FDA approved medicine that achieves great results when it comes to tackling fine lines and wrinkles.

Wrinkles are unfortunately unavoidable and just part of ageing. The repeated contraction of the facial muscles combined with environmental impacts such as sun exposure and pollution causes lines and wrinkles to form in a more permanent way.

Botox injections work to block the nerve impulse that causes the muscles to contract which stops the wrinkles from forming on the face; revealing a much smoother appearance of the skin.

Botox treatment areas

There are several areas that can be treated with Botox each targeting different concerns.

botox face injection best areas sites wrinkle treatment

  • Forehead; Forehead and frown lines can be relaxed with botox creating a smoother and fresh appearance.
  • Eyebrows; Botox can help create an eyebrow lift effect by relaxing the muscles that pull the brow line down.
  • Between the Eyebrows; Lines in this area are known as the glabella lines or the 11’s. Botox in this area can help relax these lines giving a smoother appearance.
  • Corner of the eyes; Fine lines can appear around the corner of the eyes which are also known as crow’s feet, botox injections can help to relax these lines giving a more refreshed appearance.
  • Nose: Botox can be injected into the upper portion of the nose to smooth horizontal lines also known as ‘bunny lines’
  • Cheek; When botox is injected into the cheek, it can help to reduce the symptoms of bruxism to prevent teeth grinding as well as making the face more oval in appearance.
  • Upper Lip; Botox treatment can reduce the lines which appear on the upper lip and can also be injected to relax the top lip reducing the appearance of a gummy smile.
  • Around the mouth; Injection into the marionette lines can help to turn the corner of the upwards to improve the appearance of prejowl.
  • Chin; Botox is used on the chin to help remove chin lines and improve the appearance of a dimpled chin.
  • Neck; To reduce the appearance of neck rings in the neck injecting botox into the ‘Platysmal Bands’ can tighten the neck and decrease banding.
  • Armpits; Hyperhidrosis treatment uses botox to reduce severe sweating in the armpits which can also be performed on the hands. The treatment works by blocking the transmission of the nerve impulses to the sweat glands which as a result decreases the amount you sweat/perspire.

Botox injections are still unregulated in the UK but they should only be performed by a highly qualified nurse or doctor. When botox injections are wrongly performed it can result in a number of negative side effects such as a frozen forehead and a complete lack of facial expressions which is always something that should be avoided.

At The Private Clinic we only work with registered, experienced doctors and nurses who have undergone extensive additional training to qualify in prescribing and performing wrinkle injections treatment.

What are Botox Injections?

January 10, 2019 by Julia Morgan Leave a Comment

Anti-wrinkle injections is a procedure that continues to rise in popularity year after year due to its effectiveness and various uses to treat different concerns.

In this blog post, we will be covering everything about Botox from its different purposes and uses and address the most frequently asked questions about the Botox procedure.

botox treatment london

What is Botox?

Botox is the name of a neurotoxin protein derived from the Clostridium Botulinum Bacterium. This toxin is FDA approved and regulated for medical use.

Botox is the substance that when injected, enables the relaxation of the muscles responsible for causing the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. There are various brands of Botulinum Toxin but at The Private Clinic, we only use it from renowned manufacturer Allergen.

How do I know if Botox injections are right for me?

Anti-wrinkle injections are suitable for both men and women who are concerned about the appearance of their lines and recommended for patients in their mid-late twenties and upwards, being the most popular ages from 30-35 and up.

Anti-wrinkle injections are not suitable for patients who:

  • Have had an allergic reaction to type A Botulinum toxin injections.
  • Has an infection on the area that is intended to be treated.
  • Are under the age of 18.
  • Suffer from any diseases affecting the muscles, including the Eaton Lambert syndrome.
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Taking blood thinning tablets.

What areas can be treated with Botox?

There are several areas that can be treated with Botox and target different concerns.

botox face injection best areas sites

Where to get Botox injections on the face;

  • Forehead; This area will target any frown lines.
  • Between the Eyebrows; This will remove the glabella lines (the 11’s).
  • Eyebrows; Botox can can help create an eyebrow lift effect by relaxing the muscles that pull the brow line down.
  • Nose: Botox can be injected into the upper portion of the nose to smooth horizontal lines also known as ‘bunny lines’
  • Corner of the eyes; To target the fine lines also known as crows feet
  • Cheek; When injected into the cheek, it can help to reduce the symptoms of bruxism to prevent teeth grinding as well as making the face more oval in appearance.
  • Upper Lip; Reduce and reduce the lines which appear on the upper lip, botox can also be injected to relax the top lip and reduce a gummy smile.
  • Around the mouth; Injection into the marionette lines can help to turn the corner of the upwards to improve the appearance of prejowl.
  • Chin; Can help to remove chin lines and improve the appearance of dimpled chin
  • Neck; To reduce the appearance of neck rings in the neck and injecting into the ‘Platysmal Bands’ to tighten the neck and decrease banding.
  • Armpits; Hyperhidrosis treatment uses botox to reduce severe sweating in the armpits which can also be performed on the hands.

Are anti-wrinkle injections (Botox) the same as fillers?

Anti-wrinkle injections and fillers are not the same, however, they can both help minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Anti-wrinkle injections consist of relaxing the muscle to avoid its movement whilst fillers are utilised to add volume to different areas of the skin or fill deep wrinkles, and the substance used is hyaluronic acid as opposed to Botulinum toxin.

How long does Botox last for?

The results of anti-wrinkle injections are not permanent and typically last around 3-6 months. After that time frame you should book in for your next consultation if you wish to maintain the results.

Do the Botox injections hurt?

The pain from the administering of anti-wrinkle injections is minimal. The needle is very fine and small doses of product are used.

Patients might experience some discomfort at first at the point of entry of the needle. However, patients are able to take painkillers before the treatment. We advise against taking anti-inflammatory tablets such as ibuprofen as this type of medication thins the blood and the treatment won’t be able to be performed.

Are there any side effects of Botox injections?

The most frequent side effects are slight bruising, redness and reduced swelling.

The more severe side effects are allergic reactions, infection, drooping of the eyebrow, nausea, numbness, swelling of the eyelids, symptoms similar to the flu, dry skin, dizziness, dry mouth and dry skin.

A full disclosure of side effects will be discussed in consultation to ensure you are making an informed decision before deciding to go ahead with treatment.

Dermal Filler

Dermal Filler treatments are ideal for anyone who is looking to restore volume into areas of the face that may have been lost due to ageing or weight loss. Dermal Filler can be used in many ways such as for enhancing the size of lips, defining the cheeks, and filling out the dark circles under the eyes, filling nasolabial lines and reshaping the chin or nose.

Wrinkle Relaxing Injections

For those that unhappy with fine lines and wrinkles on their face, wrinkle relaxing injection treatments are a great way to reduce the appearance without the need for any surgical procedures.  Wrinkle relaxing injections can help soften the appearance of frown lines, crow’s feet, neck lines and top lip lines.

Wrinkle relaxing injections are also a great treatment to help those suffering with excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). The botulinum toxin solution is injected into the underarm to reduce the amount of sweat that is produced.

Thread Lift

We offer two different types of thread lift treatments in Buckinghamshire; PDO Thread Lifts and Silhouette Soft. Thread lift treatments are a great way to lift and rejuvenate the skin. Downtime after a thread lift procedure is low compared to the surgical alternative with only minor bruising or swelling to the area for a couple of days afterwards.

Profhilo

Profhilo is a relatively new anti-ageing treatment that is growing increasingly popular and was awarded winner of the Best Injectable Product in Europe, 2017 at The Aesthetic Awards. The treatment uses hyaluronic acid to remodel the skins structure, nourish the dermal cells and treats skin laxity restoring the firmness of your skin. Is Botox Good or Bad? We Answer Your Questions about the Cosmetic & Medical Uses of Botox

May 24, 2013 by dina.elbarbary Leave a Comment

Botox has lots of medical uses as well as its most famous cosmetic use to treat lines and wrinkles. When administered correctly Botox treatments offer a great and sustainable way to ensure you manage and avoid those bothersome deep lines and wrinkles.

In response to the questions we get asked by patients, we thought we would put together a blog post all about the various uses of Botox and some of the most common questions we get asked to help you better understand why Botox can be good.

Cosmetic Botox to the Face for Women

What are the cosmetic uses of Botox?

Our Botox treatments to the face and neck can help target problem areas like:

  • Forehead
  • Frown Lines
  • Crow’s Feet & Under the Eyes
  • The Nose Area  / Bunny Lines
  • Jaw line
  • Chin
  • Neck

We use Dermal Fillers for problem areas around the mouth like:

  • Above Lips
  • Smoker’s Lines
  • Corners of Mouth

What are the medical uses of Botox?

The medical uses of Botox include (to varying degrees of success and popularity):

  • Blepharospasm (excessive blinking)
  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
  • Migraine and other headache disorders
  • Incontinence
  • Anal fissure
  • Vaginismus to reduce the spasm of the vaginal muscles
  • Trauma, stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and cerebral palsy
  • Diabetic neuropathy
  • Wound healing
  • Excessive salivation
  • Vocal cord dysfunction
  • Painful bladder syndrome

John Mayer, a famous singer from the US, has been treated with Botox for vocal cord dysfunction.

How often should I have Botox?

Your doctor or nurse at The Private Clinic will work with you to decide the best course of treatment in order to maintain natural-looking results. It may be the case that you can extend the gaps between treatments and still maintain your desired look. For younger patients, this may be especially important. Some patients have treatments annually. You can discuss this in more detail at a consultation.

Who should I choose for my Botox treatments?

Botox should be administered carefully in a controlled clinical environment by experienced professionals. With experienced and fully qualified practitioners you are in the safest hands possible. Here at The Private Clinic we only work with qualified and experienced doctors and nurses for our cosmetic Botox treatments as we take patient care very seriously, putting your care before everything else.

A good doctor or clinic will inform you about how you can achieve natural looking, sustainable results. That is why it is so important to choose an experienced practitioner and not let your decision be based on cost alone.

Botox has definitely benefited people. Like with lots of things in life, it’s about moderation when it comes to using Botox for cosmetic reasons. Finding a clinic and medical team you can trust to work in your best interests can be a challenge.

Is Botox safe?

Used correctly it won’t damage your body. The effects are temporary on the muscles but overuse of Botox will cause problems for the muscles. That is why it’s very important to choose experienced and qualified practitioners.

Allergan, the manufacturer behind Botox, points out that there has not been a single fatality related to its cosmetic use.

Cosmetic Treatments Around the World & What Is Popular Where

March 6, 2013 by dina.elbarbary Leave a Comment

Over the past week, the Guardian’s Tehran bureau has reported on the growing trend for nose reshaping surgery, more commonly referred to as ‘nose jobs’ or more clinically as rhinoplasty. As many as 200,000 Iranians a year are getting nose jobs, it is being reported, and at a rate 7 times that of the US. The reasons behind this trend are being discussed across newspapers, blogs and social media at the moment but here at The Private Clinic we thought we’d bring to light the most popular cosmetic procedures across the globe.

Cosmetic Procedures Around the World

South Korea & ‘Double Eyelid Surgery’

Never that far from a headline, Asian blepharoplasty or ‘double eyelid surgery’ has fast become a very popular cosmetic procedure in South Korea. The surgery involves taking away some excess skin and giving the eye, when open, a natural crease,. Part of its popularity in the region is no doubt down to a relatively quick and inexpensive treatment process.

With nearly 50% of Asians born with eyes that have ‘single eyelids’, the procedure is proving popular across East Asia, as people seek out a gold standard of beauty with the appearance of bigger eyes, often exemplified by their favourite celebrities. According to research published by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS), about 20% of women, 19-49, have already undergone plastic surgery and 1 in every 77 South Koreans have had work done on some part of their body or face.

There are over 400 clinics in the neighbourhood of Apgujeong, in the heart of Gangnam – an affluent part of South Korea’s capital, Seoul. It has become a regional hub for the ‘double eyelid surgery’ as medical tourism booms in the country.

The US & Botox

ISAPS report that the most popular nonsurgical procedure (and procedure overall) in the US is Botox injections. US figures still dwarf every other country when it comes to Botox. Botox is remarkably easy to experience: there’s little or no downtime; minimal pain or discomfort and seen as a cost-effective solution to the hardest parts of ageing.

Its popularity looks set to continue as more and more research is published about the positive effects of Botox. Studies have shown that Botox can help negate negative emotions by paralysing frown muscles, helping to tackle depression. It is an effective treatment against excessive sweating and is currently being used to combat incontinence. Whatever you think of Botox, it is certainly helping the advance of medicine in some unexpected and wonderful ways.

Brazil & Breast Augmentation

The second most popular cosmetic surgical procedure in Brazil is breast augmentation, after lipoplasty (liposuction). With its agreeable climate, international models and beach culture, Brazil’s appetite for cosmetic procedures puts it close behind the US (the two nations are considerably ahead of third place – China).

Brazil’s wonderful mix of cultures and skin colours also make it home to a myriad of body shapes and sizes. As much as people seek a more petit frame, as many are seeking a lift and a boost to their figure with procedures like breast augmentation, more popularly known as ‘boob jobs’, and fat transfer to the buttocks.

Treatments You Can Trust: Cosmetic Injectable Treatments

November 9, 2012 by dina.elbarbary Leave a Comment

As we have now entered the peak period for cosmetic injectable treatments (the final months in the lead up to Christmas), we are keen to spread awareness of the TreatmentsYouCanTrust.org.uk campaign, which helps to launch new safer injectables.

TreatmentsYouCanTrust.org.uk aims to educate and advise patients on cosmetic injectables and decrease the amount of patients visiting Cowboy traders, who have no background experience or are under-qualified to carry out such procedures.

The Private Clinic: Botox

The safer injectable campaign centres around the ‘ABC’ of safe injectables, which stands for ‘Always Background Check’ and you can find out more about the campaign on the Female First website here, with the campaign’s tips about how to avoid bad practice.

Here at The Private Clinic we will always advise members of the public to choose their Clinic based on the doctor and their experience, only then will it be certain that the correct results will be achieved.

When you undergo a treatment at the Clinic you will only be treated by a registered, experienced practitioner, using the highest quality of approved products. We are proud to only offer tried and tested, fully approved medical products, produced by worldwide, renowned manufacturers, such as Allergan and Azzalure, and all of our injectable treatments are carried out by cosmetic doctors or nurse prescribers, who have undergone extensive additional training to qualify in prescribing Botox.

For those of you considering a course of Botox injections you may be interested to know that we have reduced our Botox prices for all appointments made up until 31st of December. We are offering up to £115 on wrinkle relaxing injections.

To find out more about the treatments we offer and to take advantage of our newly reduced Botox prices, visit the website or call 0800 599 9920.
