inverted nipples

A spotlight on Nipple Correction Surgery

May 25, 2017 by Rebecca Giffen Leave a Comment

What is it?

Nipple correction is exactly what the title suggests, a correction of the nipple. Some women may notice that their nipples are inverted which generally is nothing to be concerned about. If your nipple has suddenly become inverted however, then it may be worth visiting your GP first to rule out any underlying causes before having surgery.

It is also common amongst both men and women to feel their nipples are too large and cause them discomfort when wearing clothing and exercising.

What are my options?

The majority of our nipple correction surgeries are performed under local anaesthetic and you are able to return home the same day. Nipple correction surgery can also be performed at the same time as another surgical procedure such as a breast enlargement.

Inverted Nipple Correction – Inverted nipples often occur when the breast ducts are too short or there’s a tightening of the duct’s tissue due to an imbalance in traction between them and the smooth muscle that keeps nipples erect. The cause of inverted nipples varies from person to person and can be due to genetics, lactation, pregnancy or trauma. Inverted nipple correction surgery can be performed to release the inwards pull of the nipple. Find out more about Inverted Nipple surgery here.

Nipple Reduction – Overly large nipples can cause a great deal of concern to some patients either due to discomfort or increased visibility when wearing certain types of clothing. Nipple size or appearance can often change through weight gain, weight loss or pregnancy but conditions such as gynecomastia can also cause nipples to appear oversized in proportion to the rest of the chest. Nipple reduction surgery can reduce the height or width of the nipple. Find out more about Nipple Reduction surgery here.

Nipple Correction Female

It is estimated that 1 in 10 women suffer from nipple-related conditions in the UK often where the nipples are irregular or enlarged and often protrude through clothing causing many to feel self-conscious and uncomfortable in social situations. For women who are active and enjoy sport it can cause a  pain and irritation which is commonly known as ‘Jogger’s Nipple’.

The causes for enlarged nipples are varied, for many they may have been present since birth but only developed following puberty. Many women experience changes to their nipples during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding.

Nipple reduction surgery for females is the best way to see a physical reduction in the size and shape of the nipple. We recommend that female patients only consider nipple reduction surgery after they have completed their family and finished breastfeeding as surgery to the nipple always carries a risk of not being able to breastfeed afterwards.

To find out more about nipple reduction surgery for females, book a consultation with one of our expert breast surgeons.

Nipple Correction Male

Nipple correction surgery for men is a common request at our clinics. For many men, they are actually experiencing a condition referred to as ‘Puffy Nipple’ which is often a symptom of Gynecomastia. Gynecomastia is an excess of breast tissue or enlarged breast glands under the nipple/areola which then pushes the nipple outwards into a cone shape. For some men they may be experiencing inverted nipple which is where the nipple sits inside the areola and is often unresponsive to touch and temperature. Many men come to us after feeling restricted in clothing that they wear and express feeling embarrassed to comfortably take part in activities that require a bare chest showing the nipples such as swimming and sunbathing.

Weight gain can also impact the appearance of the nipples on the male chest and Nipple reduction surgery can really help to reduce the height, width and position of the nipple reshaping it into a more desirable appearance. Nipple reduction surgery can be performed as a stand-alone procedure or alongside male chest reduction surgery.

Patient Testimonials/Reviews

“I wasn’t happy with the appearance of my nipples and felt like my breasts hadn’t fully developed. They were flat and slightly inverted and even though when wearing clothes you couldn’t tell, it highly affected my confidence in relationships. I wouldn’t wear anything unless it had padding, even in bed. Since having the surgery I am so much happier and confident, in relationships and general life. The whole process was very well organised, the staff were very helpful before, during and after the surgery – I’d even say my nipples are now perfect” – Apryl, Read Apryl’s patient story here.

“As far as the operation went, it was great! I am a 46 year old white female and I had Bilateral Inverted Nipple Correction (I was a Grade 3). The injections were the worst pain EVER, but after that I just lay there and chatted whilst Dr Richards worked. Everyone was very friendly and sweet and I was made to feel relaxed, bearing in mind this is the most mortifying problem and I have always been very stressed/embarrassed about it. The results are amazing! I have actual proper sticky-out nipples now and I am beyond thrilled and have 100% more confidence!! I am seriously contemplating a tummy tuck now after this experience.” – Anne

“I enquired by phone and managed to get a consultation at the Leeds clinic a few days later due to a cancellation, which was great as I had been thinking about inverted nipple surgery for a while and really wanted to move quickly with this. I was made to feel very comfortable during the consultation, and managed to book my surgery the next day, which was to take place 2 weeks later. The surgical team made me feel so at ease and were supportive at every step of the way, including during my aftercare. I have no regrets about the surgery and my confidence has improved so much since. Thanks to the team for making this as easy as possible for me and if I was considering surgery again I would definitely use The Private Clinic.” – S

Prep Your Way to a Confident Summer Body

May 16, 2017 by Rebecca Giffen Leave a Comment

As the first signs of summer slowly start to make an appearance, you may be dusting off that summer wardrobe and getting ready to ditch the baggy jumpers and tights in favour of bare legs, summer tops and dresses.

To many this may seem heavenly but for some, the months of summer can be difficult when you are not feeling as confident about your body as your friends and family are.

Liposuction/VASER Lipo

With many of us now living healthy and active lifestyles it can be really frustrating when your hard work just doesn’t seem to be paying off. Sometimes certain areas of our body are predisposed to store fat and often no matter how much exercise you do, it just won’t shift. When this is the case, one of our minimally invasive Liposculpting procedures could help you achieve the body you have been working hard to achieve.

Vaser Lipo is able to target the thighs, hips, flanks, waist, abdomen, buttocks, arms, chin, back, neck, breasts, chest, knees and ankles and we are able to treat any gender.

We perform over 1,300 minimally invasive liposuction and body contouring procedures a year, and, combined, our doctors perform the highest number of VASER liposuction procedures in the UK.

Our Vaser Liposuction procedures are carried out at our own local theatres in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester and Leeds. We tailor-make each procedure, meaning you’ll always be given our full attention and we will work hard to ensure you receive the kind of results you want – whether it’s an athletic, masculine figure or more subtle, feminine curves.

Breast Surgery

If the idea of donning a bikini and spending a week in the sun with your gal pals fills you with dread then you may have already started to look at breast surgery. Whether it’s increasing the size of your bust or reducing it we have variety of options to suit you and get you to your desired goal.

We can use a combination of our procedures to fix asymmetry and tuberous busts and even if it’s something more minor (like inverted nipples) that are making you feel uncomfortable then we can help you.

We have been treating patients for over thirty years and our team of breast surgery specialists are able to use their years of expertise to ensure you find the right option for your needs.

Breast Surgery consultations are available in – London, London City, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow, Buckinghamshire and Northampton.

Tummy tuck/Mini Tummy Tuck

If your problem is not excess fat but sagging skin then a tummy tuck (or abdominoplasty) would be your best option. Sagging skin often occurs due to pregnancy or weight loss and for many who have excess skin around their stomach it can leave you feeling self-conscious and uncomfortable especially when it comes to wearing swimwear or fitted/summer clothes.

Depending on the severity of your excess skin and whether your muscles need to be tightened or not will determine what type of procedure will be best for you. A mini tummy tuck for example only removes a small portion of tissue between the area above your pubic region to the tummy button rather than the whole area of the tummy like in a full tummy tuck.

Working with only the very best surgeons ensures that we can produce the results you want safely. We’re proud to have some of the UK’s most respected doctors as part of our Tummy Tuck team.

Tummy tuck consultations available in –London, London City, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow, Buckinghamshire and Northampton.

We address 5 common breast complaints on National Cleavage Day

March 27, 2017 by Rebecca Giffen Leave a Comment

Push up bras at the ready, its National Cleavage day!

Originating in South Africa, National Cleavage Day started in 2002 and was started as a way to; ‘solemnise women’s independence and power in all facets of life, from their careers to their relationships to their own destiny‘ The day is sponsored by Wonderbra, Cosmopolitan Magazine and 5fm and all money raised during the day goes towards Sunflower Fund which helps South African citizens diagnosed with leukaemia and other life-threatening blood diseases.

Of course the day itself should all be seen as a bit of fun and nothing to take too seriously but while some women are digging out their low cut tops others may be feeling a little deflated about breast issues of our own.

Research from lingerie brand Playtex last year found that 6 out of 10 women in Britain were unhappy with their breasts. So we spoke to Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Mr Adrian Richards and asked “what are the most common breast complaints?” that he receives from patients.

Asymmetrical Breasts

We should always think of our boobs as being sisters and not twins and so to have perfectly symmetrical breasts is very unrealistic. Mr Richards says. “All women have some variance between their breasts. The only difference is that, for some, the asymmetry is almost impossible to spot, whereas the difference between other women’s breast size and shape may be more obvious.”

A breast augmentation is often used to correct asymmetric breasts in which different sized implants or single implants are used or often the procedure is combined with a breast uplift which is done as a two stage procedure to create a more symmetrical look.

Sagging Breasts

Sagging breasts is such a common complaint we get here in clinic and although often symbolised with ageing, it is an issue that can occur at any age. “Sagging breasts are often diagnosed as breast ptosis. It can not only be embarrassing for women, but it also creates back pain and can lessen their ability to enjoy certain activities and exercise”, Mr Richards says.

Breast ptosis can be caused by a number of things including weight loss and breastfeeding. Generally the issue is normally easily corrected by breast uplift surgery also known as a mastopexy. This surgery will not dramatically reduce or increase the size of the bust but will instead raise the breast using the surrounding tissue to give the breast more shape and support to counteract any drooping or sagging.

Oversized Nipples

Many of us can find ourselves feeling self-conscious about the size of our nipples despite them not being on display for all to see. “Enlarged protuberant nipples can cause embarrassment for both men and women, and it is an issue patients come to me with frequently, particularly as we head into the summer months” says Mr Richards.

Enlarged nipples are easily fixed by a simple nipple reduction procedure that is often performed under local anaesthetic meaning the downtime is minimal. The procedure however is not recommended for any women who have plans to breastfeed in the future so for some it may be best to wait.

Tuberous Breasts

Tuberous breasts are an abnormality in the breast and is categorised when the breast has a narrow base combined with a high breast crease meaning the breast can appear to be elongated.

“Tuberous breasts are extremely common but the severity can vary greatly meaning that the treatments are varied too” says Mr Richards.

In most cases tuberous breasts are corrected with breast implants however more severe cases may need to consider a tissue expander which is an inflatable breast implant designed to stretch the skin and muscle enough to create room for a breast implant.

Inverted Nipples

“I see many patients who are insecure about inverted nipples and generally they have no idea just how common they are.” says Mr Richards.

Inverted Nipples are down to in imbalance between the inward traction of the milk ducts and the traction of the muscle which actually pushes the nipple out. Essentially the force of the inward pull from the milk ducts is stronger than the outward pull from the nipple muscle resulting in the nipple being pulled into the breast which gives it an inverted appearance.

Despite the technical sounding reasoning above, inverted nipple surgery is a very simple procedure which is often performed under local anaesthetic. In some cases inverted nipples can even be treated without surgery through the use of a niplette which we always encourage all our patients to try before booking in for surgery.

inverted-nipple-before-after-adrian-richards-aurora-clinics-part-of-the-private-clinic

More often than not breast abnormalities are simply natural occurrences, however sometimes there are underlying medical issues that could be the cause of changes in the look or feel of your breasts. If you are ever concerned or notice any changes in your bust then make an appointment to visit your GP as your first point on call.

Breast Implants aka Boob Job, Bilateral Breast Augmentation (BBA), Breast Enlargement BBA-before-after-David-Fallahdar-the-private-clinic

What? The Breast enlargement procedure involves the surgical addition of implants to improve the shape, size, form and/or feel of your breasts.

Why? This surgery is for patients who feel unhappy about the size of their breasts and wish to increase the size, volume or change the shape of the bust through use of implants.

Surgeons; Mr Adrian Richards, Mr Davood Fallahdar, Mr Navid Jallali, Mr Maisam Fazel, Mr Dario Rochira, Mr Olumuyiwa Olubowale, Mr Kenneth Kok, Mr Mobinulla Syed, Mr Adel Fattah, Ms Lyndsey Highton, Mr Prashant Govilkar and Mr Philip Lim

Treatment/Consultation Locations: London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Buckinghamshire, Northampton and Bristol.

Otoplasty, Pinnaplasty, Ear Reshaping, Ear Pinning

What? Otoplasty is a relatively straightforward and simple cosmetic surgery procedure to resize, reshape, reposition and/or hold back the ears.

Why? Some patients have ears that they feel stick out more than others around them causing them to be more prominent. Although protruding ears do not generally cause any phsyical problems, it can cause self-consciousness and teasing from others.

Surgeons; Mr Dario Rochira, Mr Mark Lloyd, Mr Kenneth Kok, Mr Adel Fattah and Mr Philip Lim

Treatment Locations: London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Northampton and Bristol.

Breast Reduction, Bilateral Breast Reduction (BBR)bbr-before-after-sujatha-Tadiparthi-The-Private-Clinic

What? Breast reduction surgery is a very common procedure which involves the removal of excess fat, skin and glandular tissue from your breasts to achieve a new and improved size and shape to suit your body.

Why? This surgery is for patients who feel unhappy about the size of their breasts and wish to reduce the size. Issues from having a large bust can include backache, struggling with finding clothes to fit and unwanted attention.

Surgeons; Mr Navid Jallali, Mr Dario Rochira, Mr Maisam Fazel, Mr Adrian Richards, Mr Kenneth Kok, Mr Olumuyiwa O Olubowale, Mr Mobinulla Syed, Mr Philip Lim, Ms Lyndsey Highton, Mr Adel Fattah, Mr William Van Niekerk and Mr Prashant Govilkar.

Treatment/Consultation Locations: London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Buckinghamshire, Northampton and Bristol.

Breast Auto Augmentation

What? Breast Auto Augmentation involves removal of breast implants and then a reconstruction technique where the patients existing breast tissue is relocated within the breast.

Why? This surgery is for patients who are looking to remove their implants but are concerned about sagging following surgery. The Breast Auto Augmentation procedure helps to increasethe fullness of the upper breast whilst lifting the breasts into a more youthful position therefore improving the shape of your breasts without an implant.

Surgeons; Mr Adrian Richards and Mr Dario Rochira.

Treatment/Consultation Locations: London, Buckinghamshire, Northampton and Bristol.

Facelift, Surgical Face Lift, Neck Lift, Rhytidoplasty

What? A facelift tightens skin around your face, jawline and neck, resulting in a youthful, rejuvenated appearance.

Why? As we age our face changes and can loose volume causing skin to droop. Many who are unhappy with this appearance can use non-surgical treatments to help but some wish to have a surgical procedure for a longer lasting result.

Surgeons;  Mr Roberto Uccellini, Mr Davood Fallahdar, Mr Dario Rochira, Mr Navid Jallali, Mr Adel Fattah, Mr Philip Lim and Mr Kenneth Kok

Treatment/Consultation Locations: London, Birmingham, Northampton, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Bristol.

Arm Lift Surgery, Brachioplasty arm-lift-before-after-fallahdar-the-private-clinic

What? Brachioplasty is a surgical procedure to remove unwanted fat and excess skin from the upper arms.

Why? Often after extreme weight loss we can be left with loose skin that does not respond well to exercise or diet or a patient may have excess fat in that area, that again is stubborn and hard to loose.

Surgeons: Mr Davood Fallahdar, Mr Navid Jallali, Mr Maisam Faizal, Mr Mobinulla Syed and Mr Prashant Govilkar

Treatment Locations: London, Buckinghamshire, Birmingham, Northampton, Manchester, Bristol and Glasgow.

Surgical Liposuction

What? Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure that can help sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat from specific body areas, leaving a much more defined shape.

Why? Sometimes we have stubborn areas of fat that no amount of exercise or diet can get rid off. Liposuction is a great way to reward your healthy lifestyle efforts and remove these areas giving you a leaner look.

Surgeons: Mr Davood Fallahdar, Mr Navid Jallali, Mr Maisam Faizal, Mr Dario Rochira, Mr Prashant Govilkar,  Mr Mobinulla Syed

Treatment Locations: London, Buckinghamshire, Birmingham, Northampton, Manchester, Bristol and Leeds

Breast Uplift, Mastopexy

Masto-before-After-sujatha-Tadiparthi-The-Private-ClinicWhat? A Mastopexy is a surgical procedure, where excess skin is removed so that the remaining skin can be tightened and the nipple moved to a higher position, resulting in a firmer appearance.

Why? Usually, patients who require a mastopexy have had a loss of volume in their breasts after having children or they have a condition caused Breast Ptosis which cause the breast to sag and breast uplift surgery can simply lift this to restore their natural breast shape and size.

Surgeons: Mr Davood Fallahdar, Mr Navid Jallali, Mr Dario Rochira, Mr Maisam Fazel, Mr Adrian Richards, Mr Kenneth Kok, Mr William Van Niekerk, Mr Olumuyiwa O Olubowale, Ms Lyndsey Highton, Mr Adel Fattah, Mr Mobinulla Syed and Mr Philip Lim.

Treatment Locations: London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Buckinghamshire, Northampton and Bristol.

Eyebag Removal, Blepharoplasty, Upper Blepharoplasty, Lower Blepharoplasty

What? Blepharoplasty is a simple procedure to remove or reposition excess skin and tissue around the eyelids. The treatment can be used to reduce drooping, tighten any creases and folds in the upper or lower eyelids, and lift skin surrounding eyes.

Why? As we age, features of our face can droop especially around the eyes. Some patients find themselves starting to lose peripheral vision due to the upper-eyelid skin draping over the eyelashes which can mean activities like reading and driving can become difficult.

Surgeons; Mr Davood Fallahdar, Mr Roberto Uccellini, Mr Navid Jallali, Mr Dario Rochira, Mr Adel Fattah, Mr Philip Lim, Mr Supriya and Mr Kenneth Kok

Treatment/Consultation Locations: London, Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow, Northampton, Cardiff, Milton Keynes and Reading.

Inverted Nipple Surgery, Nipple Correction

inverted-nipple-before-after-adrian-richards-aurora-clinics-part-of-the-private-clinicWhat? Inverted Nipple Surgery involves making an incision around the nipple and dividing or separating the ducts and then allowing the nipple to sit naturally.

Why? There are a number of causes for inverted nipples, often we are just born with them otherwise it may be down to breastfeeding, trauma from surgery, breast ptosis or even pregnancy. Patients generally wish to have this surgery for aesthetic reasons. Sometimes the wish is to make breast feeding easier in the future which although possible, it is worth noting there is a risk which should be discussed with your surgeon.

Considering Nipple Correction Surgery? We answer your most popular questions

April 20, 2016 by Rebecca Giffen Leave a Comment

Did you know that 10 to 20 percent of women and men have inverted or flat nipples?
It can be a sensitive subject and many of us tend to avoid any embarrassing trips to our GPs to discuss such issues. If you think your nipples are inverted – and you would like to know more about the corrective surgery we can offer then read on for answers to some of our most common questions.

How old do I need to be for inverted nipple correction surgery?

Although inverted nipple correction is a very simple procedure and can be performed quickly and easily under local anaesthetic, most clinics will not agree to perform surgery on anyone under 18 years old.

Up until the age of 18 your breasts are still growing and it could result in subsequent breast growth if any changes are made to the nipple before this. By waiting until your breasts are fully developed it will increase your chances of getting a permanent result.

There are of course steps you can take to improve your nipples in the meantime; healthy eating and exercise to keep your weight down can help by reducing the amount of ‘pull’ on your nipples – making the inversion less severe.

What will happen to my nipple sensation after inverted nipple correction surgery?

A common fear of having any kind of surgery on your nipple is a loss of sensation. During surgery the nipple ducts are divided and the muscle in the nipple wall remains intact. After surgery the muscle it will still be able to contract as normal so your nipple sensation will generally be the same you’re your nipple reacting to touch and cold as normal.

Will I be able to breastfeed after inverted nipple correction surgery?

This is one of our most commonly asked questions and a very important one. During surgery the milk ducts which hold the nipple inwards are divided. This means that unfortunately once you have this surgery then you will be unable to breastfeed. We highly recommend that if you are still looking to complete your family then you should think carefully before going ahead.

What is the recovery time like after inverted nipple correction surgery?

The recovery time after inverted nipple correction surgery is quite short as the procedure is performed under a local anaesthetic rather than a general. After your surgery you will only need to wear a small amount of dressing on your nipple/s and you will generally be fine to return to work the day after your surgery.

The recovery process after surgery is very easy to manage too. It is recommended that you wear looser clothing for a few days afterwards so your dressing won’t show, and also to avoid any unnecessary pressure or chafing.

Will I be able to exercise after surgery?

As with many surgical procedures it is recommended that you hold off on any exercise for the first couple of weeks after your surgery. It may be beneficial to use a lubricating cream or light padding to reduce friction to the nipple area when taking part in physical activities such as running.

Are there any non-surgical treatments I can try instead of surgery?

We always recommend that you try non-surgical treatments before coming to us for surgery. We thoroughly recommend the Niplette suction device which you can buy in boots or other similar stores. The Niplette is applied nightly to help to gently pull out the ducts which as a result can lengthen them to reduce and in some cases even correct the inversion.

The success rate of this device is usually quite high; however this will depend on what grade your inverted nipples are. The Niplette works best on grade 1 and 2 inverted nipples rather than a more severe grade 3 case. Although as it is a safe and inexpensive tool it is still definitely worth trying initially whatever grade you are.

Can I combine inverted nipple correction surgery with breast enlargement or reduction surgery?

If you are considering a breast enlargement or breast reduction and have inverted nipples then generally it is best to have them both done at the same time, as this means you will only need one operation and general anaesthetic.

Recovery for this combined procedure will be very similar to recovering from standard breast enlargement or reduction surgery, however you will have additional dressings on your nipple that you would not normally have after a standard procedure.

How much does inverted nipple surgery cost?

The approximate price for a bilateral Nipple Correction is £2500. We don’t follow a one-price-fits-all policy and prices are quoted on a case by case basis. You will be given an accurate quote for your requirements following your consultation.

The Private Clinic, Manchester: Plastic Surgery Treatments

February 21, 2016 by dina.elbarbary Leave a Comment

We realise that some results can only be attained surgically, so we have selected a wide range aesthetic treatment options for you to choose from.

Our Manchester clinic is one of four where we offer surgical procedures on top of our minimally invasive, walk in, walk out procedures, and the list below gives you an outline of the solutions available to you.

Facial Procedures

Blepharoplasty

Eyelid and Eye Bag Surgery is the darling of plastic surgery. It’s straightforward (lasting only 30mins at times), has very short recovery time (about one to two weeks) and has consistent, rejuvenating results. By removing any excess skin and fat, the surgery can help those with heavy, hooded or drooping eyelids, as well as those with puffiness and large eye bags under the eyes.

Blepharoplasty is particularly popular because it can be done under local anaesthetic and due to how swiftly the procedure is carried out. The eye-opening results speak for themselves.

Rhinoplasty

One of the oldest procedures around, Rhinoplasty is a very popular procedure that makes it possible to change the shape, size and length of a nose and its alar bases. Our surgeons make incisions inside your nose to then internally operate on skin, cartilage and bone to avoid visible scarring.

Otoplasty and Earlobe Correction

Ear surgery usually serves to pin back protruding ears although in some appropriate cases, their shape and size can also be altered. Earlobe Reconstruction, on the other hand, focuses on repairing sagging, stretched or ripped earlobes by removing excess skin and reshaping the remaining tissue.

Facelift

We offer numerous minimally invasive treatments that can push back the years on your face, but the results can never be as dramatic as those achieved through a surgical procedure. So, for those who have experienced advanced ageing and wishing to have low-maintenance, long-lasting results, then a bespoke Facelift procedure might be just the answer.+

The Mini Facelift is especially popular among those who want to manage the signs of ageing and have moderate amounts of excess skin. The cheeks and jawline can be redefined by removing unnecessary skin and visibly rejuvenate your face by giving it a fresher sand more open appearance.

Body Procedures

Arm Lift

This procedure is designed to address ‘bingo wings’ by removing excess skin and fat, to then tighten any lax tissue. The treatment may be combined with Liposuction to create an even tone and precise definition.

Breast Augmentation

Known as the most popular cosmetic procedure in most countries, Breast Augmentation relies on silicone gel-filled implants to increase breast volume by placing them either behind or in front of pectoral muscles. Continuous technological advances mean that implants are becoming more malleable, resistant and safer as we move into the future.

Nipple Correction

If you have inverted nipples that don’t project and feel uncomfortable about them, then know that they can usually be corrected by releasing some of the milk ducts that might be pulling them inwards. Determining the cause of your inversion will determine the best way to go about treatment.

The procedure is a simple one that only requires the use of local anaesthetic. The recovery period is minimal, usually about a week, though some women have reported feeling like normal after just a couple of days.

Male Chest/ Female Breast Reduction

When a woman’s breasts are too large, they can turn into an emotional and painful physical struggle. Men suffering from Gynecomastia (A.K.A. ‘moobs’) won’t end up bent over backwards, but they can be affected psychologically and feel like their enlarged breasts are setting them back. Surgical Breast Reduction can help both to remove excess fat and breast tissue to reduce the volume in that area.

Breast Uplift

Sagging breasts can be addressed by removing excess skin to shape and position the breasts, but an Uplift also makes it easy to alter and reposition the areola. It can be combined with a Breast Reduction to make up for the loss of volume resulting from the procedure.

Tummy Tuck/Abdominoplasty

Before and after a Tummy Tuck at The Private Clinic

Famously at the core of the ‘Mummy Makeover’, Tummy Tucks are a straightforward way of removing excess skin, fat deposits and rectifying a drop in the underlying muscle. Mini versions of the treatment can also be performed if there is good muscle tone and mainly wants to address on the lower abdomen.

Labiaplasty

Showing your vagina’s labia (lips) to a stranger can be a daunting thought, which is why our surgeons treat patients with enlarged or stretched labia, with absolute respect and discretion. The treatment consists of removing excess skin– not the labia proper – in order to ‘tidy up’ that area.

Scarring

As a rule, during all of the above-mentioned procedures, our surgeons take great care to make incisions along the natural folds and fine lines of your skin, so as to minimise visible scarring as much as possible.
