Mr Nick West
Mr Nick West is a Consultant General Surgeon MB BS, FRCS (Gen. Surg.) who has a special interest in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery. Nick West joins us at The Private Clinic to offer the Haemorrhoids removal treatment called the Rafaelo® procedure.
Mr Nick West graduated at St George’s Hospital Medical School, London and was subsequently appointed to the South West Thames Higher Surgical Training Programme.
He underwent a general surgical training with sub-specialty training in colorectal surgery, with a particular interest in minimally invasive and keyhole (laparoscopic) techniques and part of this was spent as a Laparoscopic Fellowship.
He also undertook a period of research both at St George’s and St Mark’s Hospitals, London investigating the chemoprevention of colorectal cancer and his work on this was awarded a MD thesis.
Mr Nick West was appointed as a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon with an interest in minimally invasive surgery at Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust in November 2011 and undertakes a variety of general, colorectal and laparoscopic procedures, both in elective and emergency situations at the trust. He also has a keen interest in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and regularly teaches on laproscopic and endoscopic courses.
In March 2016 Mr West performed the first Rafaelo® procedure in the UK at Spire St Anthony’s Hospital.
