Tear Trough Filler
Dark circles underneath your eyes can make you look tired and older than you actually are.
Tear trough refers to the area below your eye where dark circles can often appear. Dark circles are actually caused by hollowing of the tear trough which results in shadows. Dark shadows in this area can make you look tired and aged. Dermal filler tear trough treatment is a great way to help rejuvenate tired eyes by smoothing out dark shadows, hollows and eye bags making you look well rested and youthful.
Dermal filler for tear troughs works by targeting the depressions that run from the nose to the under-eye area. This area of depression can make your eyes look sunken and cast unflattering shadows which are known as dark circles. These dark circles in this area gradually become more noticeable as the skin begins to sag and becomes thinner with age. Dermal filler injected into this area will help to restore the volume lost in this area as well as thickening the skin which will improve the appearance of any dark circles.

What are Tear Troughs?
Tear troughs are a groove or depression that sits between the lower eyelid and the cheeks that create a hollowing. This hollowing results in a dark shadow being created in the area which is often referred to as a dark circle. Tear troughs are often genetic but they can be caused by ageing.
Dermal Fillers in this area can help to smooth the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheeks, filling out the space to make the appearance of tear troughs less obvious.

What is tear trough filler?
The tear trough is the area between the lower eyelid and upper lid. As we age, this area can appear deeper and more shadowed giving patients what’s known as ‘dark circles’. This can cause patients to look tired less vibrant.
Tear trough filler is a specialised dermal filler technique aimed at filling the hollow depression underneath the eye that causes dark circles to appear. Dermal filler will replace lost volume into the area and help to retain and improve skin hydration in the treated area too.
Our aesthetic doctors, nurses and surgeons at The Private Clinic only use hyaluronic acid injectable gel and are highly skilled in performing tear trough filler which can help patients to look younger, fresher and less tired-looking.
How does tear trough filler work?
Tear trough filler works by filling the groove or depression under the eye area with dermal filler. Adding volume to this area fills out the tear trough reducing the appearance of the dark circles.
Can tear trough filler help with eye bags?
Tear trough fillers can sometimes help to camouflage the appearance of under eye bags by adding volume to the surrounding areas however the best treatment for eye bag removal is lower eyelid surgery / blepharoplasty. The best option is to come and see us to discuss what treatment is best for you, book your consultation here.
Can tear trough filler help with dark circles?

Can you use fillers for under eye wrinkles?
Dermal filler is most commonly used to add volume to an area; this does in some cases create an improvement in the appearance of wrinkles. If your only concern is wrinkles then you may instead be offered a wrinkle relaxing injection treatment known as botox which works to relax the muscles that cause wrinkles. It is best to come in and see one of our medical professionals who can advise on the best treatment for you, click here to book a consultation.
What filler is the best for tear troughs?
There are a wide range of different types of dermal filler available and which one is best for you will depend on your skins texture, the area being treated, the desired result as well as the doctor, nurse or surgeons own preference. For tear trough Juvederm® Volbella is very effective in treating the delicate area as it is softer and has a lower risk of swelling compared to older variations of Juvederm® filler.
