Crows Feet

New Skin Conditions Section Launched: Wrinkles

November 17, 2017 by Rebecca Giffen Leave a Comment

You may have noticed a new addition to our website recently, a conditions section. This new section allows our visitors to search by their condition rather than by treatment. Our patients can now see the variety of treatments that The Private Clinic has to offer for each condition.

One of our most common condition complaints is wrinkles so we are going to look at some popular treatments for wrinkles below.

How can I treat wrinkles?

Wrinkles are a common condition that many of our patients visit us for. They are unfortunately just a standard part of ageing but we understand the appearance of them can be quite visible and in some cases upsetting for the patient to live with.

Here at The Private Clinic we have a wide range of treatments to help reduce the signs of all types of fine lines and wrinkles including;

  • Crows Feet and Eye Wrinkles
  • Brow and Forehead Lines
  • Nose to Mouth Lines

The most common treatment for wrinkles is anti-wrinkle injections. These are injections of Botulinum toxin which are injected into the areas to be treated and work by relaxing the muscle which means the muscle is no longer able to contract causing your wrinkles and fine lines to soften.

Wrinkle injections are most commonly recommended for wrinkles around the eyes and across the forehead but in some cases can be used for other areas of wrinkles too, such as removing wrinkles from the neck and wrinkle that arise on the chin area often caused by ageing.

Click here to find out more about Wrinkle Injections which are available at our clinics in London Harley Street, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Northampton and Buckinghamshire.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers are another popular choice for wrinkles and fine lines. Instead of relaxing the muscle like wrinkle injections, dermal fillers instead add volume to the face which is lost during the ageing process. Adding volume to the face can help to soften lines and wrinkles.

Dermal fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid which is found naturally in the body. Dermal fillers are a great treatment for reducing the signs of wrinkles around the mouth and nose especially.

Click here to find out more about Dermal Fillers which are available at London Harley Street, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Northampton and Buckinghamshire.

Profhilo

If you are looking for an injectable treatment with natural results that develop over time to improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles and the general texture of the skin then our new Profhilo treatment may be the solution for you. Profhilo is similar to Dermal Fillers but instead of adding volume to the skin it instead restore the body’s natural level of hyaluronic acid resulting in tighter skin and a reduction in visible wrinkles.

Click here to find out more about Profhilo which is available at our clinics in London Harley Street, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Northampton and Buckinghamshire .

Regenlite

For some patients the idea of injections is enough to put them off treatment which is why we like to offer other treatment options for the appearance of wrinkles like Regenlite.

Regenlite is a laser treatment that works to rejuvenate your entire face reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The laser stimulates your natural healing response prompting it to build up collagen deep within the skin which will then overtime push upwards towards the surface of your skin smoothing out your fine lines and wrinkles.

Click here to find out more about Regenlite which is available in London Harley Street

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Another laser treatment for wrinkles is our Pearl Laser skin resurfacing treatment which works to stimulate the production of collagen by creating tiny holes within the surface of the skin causing your skin cells to go into recovery mode. The result is smoother and tighter skin with a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles.

Click here to find out more about Laser Skin Resurfacing which is available in London Harley Street

We have a variety of treatments available for all conditions meaning there will always be something to suit your needs and achieve your desired results so be sure to check our our conditions section.

Free skin consultations are available at all our clinics nationwide where a specialist nurse, doctor or practitioner will be able to assess and analyse you skin and suggest the best treatment for you.

Is Botox Good or Bad? We Answer Your Questions about the Cosmetic & Medical Uses of Botox

May 24, 2013 by dina.elbarbary Leave a Comment

Botox has lots of medical uses as well as its most famous cosmetic use to treat lines and wrinkles. When administered correctly Botox treatments offer a great and sustainable way to ensure you manage and avoid those bothersome deep lines and wrinkles.

In response to the questions we get asked by patients, we thought we would put together a blog post all about the various uses of Botox and some of the most common questions we get asked to help you better understand why Botox can be good.

Cosmetic Botox to the Face for Women

What are the cosmetic uses of Botox?

Our Botox treatments to the face and neck can help target problem areas like:

  • Forehead
  • Frown Lines
  • Crow’s Feet & Under the Eyes
  • The Nose Area  / Bunny Lines
  • Jaw line
  • Chin
  • Neck

We use Dermal Fillers for problem areas around the mouth like:

  • Above Lips
  • Smoker’s Lines
  • Corners of Mouth

What are the medical uses of Botox?

The medical uses of Botox include (to varying degrees of success and popularity):

  • Blepharospasm (excessive blinking)
  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
  • Migraine and other headache disorders
  • Incontinence
  • Anal fissure
  • Vaginismus to reduce the spasm of the vaginal muscles
  • Trauma, stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and cerebral palsy
  • Diabetic neuropathy
  • Wound healing
  • Excessive salivation
  • Vocal cord dysfunction
  • Painful bladder syndrome

John Mayer, a famous singer from the US, has been treated with Botox for vocal cord dysfunction.

How often should I have Botox?

Your doctor or nurse at The Private Clinic will work with you to decide the best course of treatment in order to maintain natural-looking results. It may be the case that you can extend the gaps between treatments and still maintain your desired look. For younger patients, this may be especially important. Some patients have treatments annually. You can discuss this in more detail at a consultation.

Who should I choose for my Botox treatments?

Botox should be administered carefully in a controlled clinical environment by experienced professionals. With experienced and fully qualified practitioners you are in the safest hands possible. Here at The Private Clinic we only work with qualified and experienced doctors and nurses for our cosmetic Botox treatments as we take patient care very seriously, putting your care before everything else.

A good doctor or clinic will inform you about how you can achieve natural looking, sustainable results. That is why it is so important to choose an experienced practitioner and not let your decision be based on cost alone.

Botox has definitely benefited people. Like with lots of things in life, it’s about moderation when it comes to using Botox for cosmetic reasons. Finding a clinic and medical team you can trust to work in your best interests can be a challenge.

Is Botox safe?

Used correctly it won’t damage your body. The effects are temporary on the muscles but overuse of Botox will cause problems for the muscles. That is why it’s very important to choose experienced and qualified practitioners.

Allergan, the manufacturer behind Botox, points out that there has not been a single fatality related to its cosmetic use.

Get fresh faced ahead of the party season!

November 19, 2010 by dina.elbarbary Leave a Comment

Do you think it’s just wrinkles that make you look older? Think again. A  study has shown that blotchy, uneven and dull skin can add up to twenty years to your apparent age, even if your face isn’t lined or sagging.

Researchers from the University of Vienna used a computer programme to create a virtual model with different skin tones taken from real women aged 10 to 70.

The scientists then removed any wrinkles and drooping jowls, and asked 400 volunteers to rate the faces by age. Those with the most even colour were considered the youngest and most attractive.

But for many of us age spots caused by sun damage, scars left by old pimples or cuts, and melasma, brown patches caused by hormonal changes, mean we look older than our years. So to restore the clear, luminous skin of our youth, The Private Clinic offer Pearl laser. It is a unique lasers that uses a light wavelength to safely remove a layer of old, damaged skin, revealing, perfect, even-toned skin with a pearly sheen.

The sessions last 90-minutes with downtime of just three to four days. This compares with at least two weeks of crusting and peeling and months of redness from previous Erbium laser resurfacing treatments.

Dr Puneet Gupta, our cosmetic doctor says, “New effective lasers reduce the signs of ageing and slow it down for years to come. They reduce lines and wrinkles with impressive results even after one treatment. Pearl provides the optimal balance between cosmetic benefit and patient downtime.”

A testimonial from a lady who had the treatment “A week later and my skin still continues to improve. There is only the tiniest bit of flakiness in my hairline, but nobody notices it. I’m really delighted with the result. The texture is improved. My pores are smaller, little bumps around my eyes have vanished, and the patches of pigment and the old high colour in my cheeks have vanished.

I’ve got a lovely healthy glow, a sort of pearly sheen, which is exactly what I hoped for. I honestly don’t think I need to wear foundation at all now. My crows feet have softened and a friend says, “I can’t believe how different your eyes look.”

I definitely think I look younger. I’m particularly glad to have achieved this without surgery.”
