The problem: Some areas of the body are predisposed to store fat, including the abdomen, hips, thighs and buttocks. If you have certain ‘problem’ areas or stubborn bulges that you just can’t shift no matter how much you exercise, VASER Lipo could be the answer.
The treatment: VASER Lipo is the very latest fat removal technology. VASER Lipo is a minimally invasive procedure performed under local anaesthetic. It is less invasive than traditional liposuction and because it differentiates between fat and important tissues such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissues, the risk of damage to these tissues is practically eliminated. There is no hospital stay, VASER Lipo is a walk-in walk-out procedure with minimum downtime.
The results: Stubborn, localised pockets of fat can successfully be removed, improving the overall shape and contours of your body. VASER Lipo results are very soft and natural looking. For patients who prefer a very athletic, sculpted look, VASER High Definition is a better option.
Downtime: VASER Lipo has minimal downtime and you can get back to your daily routine almost immediately. However because there may be some bruising and swelling, it’s best to wait a couple of weeks before you hit the gym or do any rigorous physical activity.

What is VASER Lipo? What is VASER High Definition?
There are two different types of VASER treatment – VASER and Assisted High Definition VASER or VASER Hi Def.
With VASER, a small probe is inserted into the area to be treated. It transmits ultrasound energy to break up or liquefy the fatty tissues and the liquefied fat is then removed through a gentle aspiration process. The procedure also stimulates collagen production and a tightening of the skin.
Assisted High Definition LipoSculpture, or VASER Hi DefTM is an advanced body sculpting technique. The procedure creates a more sculpted, athletic appearance than traditional VASER by precisely removing both superficial and deep fat from around muscle groups to enhance the visibility of the underlying musculature. VASER Hi Def can be performed on multiple body areas but on women tends to concentrate on the buttocks, upper thighs, small of back, love handles and the abdomen. There are very few UK clinics certified in VASER Hi-Def. Make sure to verify your doctor is one of them, before booking a Vaser High Definition procedure.
What is VASER Med (Medium) Def?
VASER Med Def is a term used to describe a VASER technique that gives results in-between Standard VASER Lipo and VASER Hi-Def. It is particularly suitable for women who generally wish an athletic look but not as extreme as that of the VASER Hi Def appearance, i.e it looks like you spend some time in the gym as opposed to all your time! We price VASER Med Def as the same as standard VASER i.e. per area.
VASER Lipo and Smartlipo – what is the difference?
Smartlipo is an older type of laser liposuction that involved melting fat with a laser probe. However, the melted fat was not removed, instead it was left in the body and naturally eliminated over a number of months. Results were slow and often disappointing for both patient and practitioner. Even the most recent Smartlipo technology, which does remove the liquefied fat, has not produced results to match VASER liposculpture.
The VASER Lipo procedure is quicker, less invasive and can remove greater volumes of fat than older technologies. And because it stimulates collagen production, the skin is tightened, which improves the overall appearance of the treated area.
What is the Microcannula Technique or MicroLipo?
MicroLipo is another minimally invasive fat removal procedure available at The Private Clinic.
A very diluted local anesthesia is injected into the fat causing the targeted areas to become swollen and firm. The fat is then removed using microcannulas with a diameter less than 3 millimeters. Traditional liposuction cannulas have a larger diameter and remove fat rather quickly, which increases the risk of irregularities and depressions in the skin. The use of microcannulas, on the other hand, allows smoother and more uniform results.
MicroLipo is the brainchild of Dr. Jeffrey Klein who wanted to achieve excellent cosmetic results but with rapid post-operative return to normal activities. Since the invention, Dr. Klein has taught the technique to hundreds of doctors in California.
Dr Gupta of The Private Clinic is the only European doctor who is certified in the KleinLipo technique and he performs this technique exclusively at The Private Clinic of Harley Street. Dr. Gupta has also pioneered its use as a non-invasive alternative to breast reduction surgery.

Does VASER Lipo hurt?
Both VASER lipo and MicroLipo are carried out under local anaesthetic, so you’ll feel no pain during the treatment.
How long does the treatment take?
This will depend on the number and size of areas to be treated, but generally VASER Lipo takes between 1 and 2 hours.
How soon will I see results?
Many patients will see results straight away. However, the appearance of the treated areas will show the most improvement in the months after the procedure.
How long will the results last?
Once the fat has been removed it is gone for good, and if you follow a healthy diet and exercise plan it will not come back.
Are there any side effects?
There will be some swelling and bruising after the VASER Lipo procedure, however this is considerably less that you’d experience with older liposuction techniques. You will have to wear a special compression garment to wear after your VASER Lipo treatment which will help minimise swelling and bruising. Overall, VASER and Microcannula have a very good safety record.
