Where are we?

The clinic is an 18 minute drive from Guildford, a 32 minute drive from Slough and a 32 minute drive from Farnborough. There are allocated free parking spaces for PrimeHealth visitors in the business village. It is located just round the corner from bus stops serving the 451 bus to Staines and Byfleet, and 637 bus to Byfleet. We would suggest taking a taxi to the clinic if travelling from Weybridge Rail Station which takes around 5-8 minutes

Miss Catharine McGuinness

A member of the Vascular Surgical Society, the Association of Surgeons, British Lymphology Society and the Cheselden Club and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Miss McGuinness is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon with extensive experience. She has held numerous high profile roles at hospitals across the country, and has been practising as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon for over 15 years.

She graduated from St. George’s Hospital Medical School in 1987 and continued her specialist training in clinics across the country, including Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals. As a leading industry professional, Miss McGuinness has trained other medical professionals in vascular research and treatment. She currently has over 40 publications to her name, and her presentations have seen her visit countless cities across the UK and Europe.

Mr. Keith Humphries 

Mr. Humphries is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Wales in Cardiff and a Vascular Sonographer for the Ashford and St. Peter’s NHS Foundation Trust.

He graduated in Physics at the Universities of Essex and Sheffield, and completed his training in Medical Physics at Guys Hospital during the early 1970s. In 1975 he moved to Southampton General Hospital where he was head of the vascular ultrasound unit which saw him responsible for the diagnostic and technical development of techniques and part of a team involved in producing a 3D continuous wave Doppler imaging system.

From 1990 he was employed at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School as a Principal Scientific Officer, where he was involved in the research and development of 3-D ultrasound imaging techniques as well as quality assurance and servicing of ultrasound systems at the Hammersmith Hospital and North and West London hospitals.  This work was continued in the Medical Physics Department of Hammersmith Hospital from 1995, and from 1998 as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College.

Throughout his career he has been involved in educational matters, organising and running training courses and conferences, and in 1999 he was one of a group who instigated and established the MSc in Medical Ultrasound at Imperial College, becoming the initial course director until 2009. He has supervised a series of MSc. and Ph.D. projects and has published extensively on vascular ultrasound diagnostic techniques, 3D ultrasound imaging and associated image processing. He has also been an internal and external examiner for Imperial College and the University of London. His current research interests include ultrasound quantification of erythrocyte echogenicity, lumbar artery investigations, carotid stenosis grading and 3-D ultrasound imaging techniques.
