Your Cosmetic Breast Surgery Journey
Step 1 – Your Breast Surgery Consultation
Your consultation will take place at our state-of-the-art Manchester clinic. Our friendly staff are on hand to help you feel comfortable and supported throughout your visit. Consultations take place with our industry-leading Consultant Plastic Surgeons who have decades of experience. They offer a wide range of breast surgery procedures including breast enlargement, breast uplifts and breast reduction procedures so you can be sure you are in the best of hands.
During your appointment, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and find out more about the breast surgery procedures available. After discussing your goals for surgery with you and taking into account your medical history, present state of health, and body type, our surgeons will use their experience to determine the best technique for breast surgery as well as the best kind, size, and shape of implant, if necessary.
Following your comprehensive consultation, you will be assigned a dedicated patient coordinator who will provide surgery quotes and available dates for surgery.
Step 2 – Your Breast Surgery Pre-Op Assessment
If you choose to proceed with your breast surgery operation, you will be able to schedule a convenient date for the procedure with your patient coordinator. You will need to have a pre-operative assessment once this date is reserved.
Depending on your needs, your pre-op assessment may be conducted over the phone or in-clinic. A blood test, MRSA swab, urine test, and blood pressure test are just a few of the pre-operative testing that your nurse will discuss with you after reviewing your medical history. They can also provide you with advice on how to preapre for the treatment you have coming up.
Step 3 – Breast Surgery Procedure
Breast Surgery usually takes place under general anaesthetic and can take anywhere from 1-3 hours to perform depending on the type of procedure. You will be provided with a surgical bra and detailed aftercare instructions. Once the surgeon is happy with your recovery, you will be able to return home to start your recovery.
Step 4 – Breast Surgery Aftercare
The day after your surgery, you will get a call from our nursing staff to ensure you are recovering well. One week later, you will be invited to come in for a wound check appointment with our medical team. You will be scheduled to visit your surgeon six weeks after surgery, but you are welcome to request to see them—or any other member of our medical staff—anytime. Patients are entitled to unlimited wound care sessions as well as surgeon evaluations.
Most patients take 1-2 weeks off work following breast surgery. Strenuous activity such as heavy lifting and exercise are best avoided until 6 weeks post procedure. You will be required to wear your surgical bra for 6 weeks.
Whilst results from Breast Surgery are instant, there is a period of swelling and settling that is required and most results are best seen after 6-12 months.
