Fillers: Picking The Correct Option For You

There have been a number of reports in the press lately about injectable skin fillers and the growing risks associated with them being carried out by untrained professionals. However there are of course two sides to every story and if carried out properly, skin fillers can be very safe and produce some excellent results.

Injections, such as Dermal Fillers, are becoming increasingly popular in the mainstream year on year, as women look for ways to emulate the look of their favourite stars. Dermal Fillers reduce facial lines and wrinkles and restore plumpness to the lips and cheeks – the perfect way to obtain Angelina’s sculptured facial features!

As reported by the press, fillers in the UK are currently still unregulated and as a result there are hundreds of Dermal Fillers available on the market, a number of which are sold online – this can of course be extremely dangerous and as a result the fillers can be sold at very low prices.

There are three important steps that must be taken into consideration before undergoing any cosmetic procedure to ensure your own safety and to help you achieve the best results possible. The steps to consider are as follows:

  1. The product – is the product that will be used safe? Does the FDA approve it and has it been tried and tested? There are plenty of safe Dermal Filler treatments available on the market, such as Juvederm from Allergen, and Restylane. These fillers have undergone very strict clinical trials and have become very popular thanks to the brilliant results they offer.
  2. The doctor – who will be carrying out the procedure? Once decided on a treatment it is equally as important to consider who will be carrying out the procedure. An experienced professional will achieve the best results, as we have mentioned before it is essential before any procedure, that a patient spends time researching their doctors before making a commitment. It is advisable to ask the doctor to see some photos of past procedure results so that you can be clear about what exactly you can expect.
  3. Permanent vs temporary – in the case of fillers, are you after permanent fillers which can only be removed by surgical excision, or are you interested in temporary fillers which usually last 6-12 months? The active ingredients in permanent fillers vary but most contain acrylic acid, which stimulates an inflammatory reaction within the skin causing scar tissue to build up around it and lock it into place. Unfortunately with permanent fillers, complications are much more difficult to deal with as the fillers are by nature permanent, e.g; they will not disappear with time. Here at the Clinic we only offer temporary fillers, such as Restylane and Juvederm manufactured by Q-med/Galderma and Allergen respectively. There is an enormous amount of data supporting their safety and we can achieve some fantastic results with these products.

Here at The Private Clinic we are always searching for the best products available on the market to offer our clients and we actively involve ourselves with top manufacturers in order to help with the search to find the best new products.
