What is Rosacea

Rosacea is a common inflammatory condition of the skin of the face that causes redness that looks like a flush or blush.

It typically first appears when people reach their thirties and manifests itself as a flushing or redness on the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead that initially comes and goes.

However Rosecea often progresses to persistent facial redness. Red lines where the tiny blood vessels of the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead become quite prominent.

People with rosacea often find that certain lifestyle and environmental factors trigger or aggravate their conditions. Common triggers include hot or spicy foods, alcohol and caffeine, exercise, temperature changes and stress.

Left untreated, the redness becomes more permanent and the tiny blood vessels may become more visible. Patients with pimples, especially older men, may subsequently develop the severe enlargement of the nose called Rhinophyma.

What is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and how does it work?

Experts have found IPL treatments to be very effective in minimizing the vascular symptoms associated with Rosacea.

Although some lasers can also treat these problems, patients report that lasers are usually more painful and frequently produce side effects such as a purple bruise that lasts for approximately 2 weeks.

Instead the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) system is gentle and non-invasive.

The light energy penetrates the skin to the exact depth of the unwanted blood vessels. The energy is absorbed by the blood vessels which in time are simply absorbed by the body and disappear.

The entire face, chest and neck areas can be treated without anaesthesia or significant side effects.

Patients report no pain, merely a mild tingling sensation.

How many treatments do I need?

The treatment is generally administered as a series of between 3 – 5 treatments at 3 – 4 week intervals.

How much does it cost?

Treatments start from £200. However, the exact price we quote is completely individual and depends on many factors and can only be properly determined by our fully qualified Doctor or Nurse who will assess your condition and guide you to the most suitable treatment options.

We have developed a policy to offer the best advanced treatments at the most competitive and affordable prices. Our aim is to give Harley Street Service at High Street prices.
