What is Rafaelo Treatment?
The Rafaelo procedure (Radio Frequency Ablation of Haemorrhoids under Local Anaesthetic) is a minimally invasive procedure performed in-clinic under local anaesthetic. The treatment is virtually pain-free and usually only one treatment is required to successfully reduce haemorrhoids.
The treatment has been approved by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) and has a 90% success rate.
Minimal aftercare is required and most patients can return to their normal daily activities the following day.
The goal of the treatment is to significantly reduce the size of the haemorrhoid which in turn will eliminate your symptoms.
Find out more about Rafaelo treatment here.
If you are not suitable for Rafaelo Haemorrhoid Treatment, our expert Consultant Surgeon will recommend an alternative treatment such as THD Haemorrhoid Surgery.
Frequently Anal skin tags might be misinterpreted for haemorrhoids. In our clinic, we provide anal skin tag removal treatment.

I had a procedure at Hagley Road Birmingham. It was carried out by Mr Patel. Despite me being a little anxious the staff helped me relax and Mr Patel was very nice and understanding and explained everything to me, and the whole experience was better than i could have hoped for. I have recommended the Private Clinic to a friend who later this year will be contacting them.

Haemorrhoid FAQs
The most noticeable difference between Haemorrhoids and Anal Skin Tags are that Haemorrhoids often cause patients much more pain and discomfort.
Haemorrhoids are swollen veins and skin tags are small sections of excess skin.
After receiving treatment for haemorrhoids, it is not uncommon for patients to develop anal skin tags since the swelling caused by the haemorrhoids may not always go away completely, resulting in the development of anal skin tags.
Rafaelo Haemorrhoid treatment is performed with local anaesthetic. There may be some discomfort as the anaesthetic is administered to the area, but once this takes effect, patients should not feel any pain.
Surgical procedures such as THD Haemorrhoid Removal is usually performed under General Anaesthetic so you will be asleep throughout the procedure.
Whilst Haemorrhoid treatment is available on the NHS, there are far fewer haemorrhoid procedures being offered to patients following a consultation conducted by the NHS in 2018 that stated that haemorrhoid surgery should be reduced in theatres.
NHS Haemorrhoid procedures often involve lengthy wait lists and a limited choice of treatment options to suit your needs.
Choosing to go private comes with a variety of benefits including faster treatment options, reduced wait times, choice of consultant surgeon, access to a variety of treatments and the choice of when and where you would like to have treatment.
