What is Restylane?
Restylane is the world’s most used, most studied dermal filler – it is estimated that since its launch in 1996 over 4 million treatments have been carried out worldwide. It is a gel that is injected into the skin in order to replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin. It consists of stabilised hyaluronic acid, a natural substance already present in the body, which is slowly broken down within the skin.
While some dermal fillers are derived from animal substances, the hyaluronic acid in Restylane is non-animal. This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reactions.
How does the treatment work?
Restylane is injected directly into the skin in small amounts by an ultrafine needle. The gel produces volume under the wrinkle, which is lifted up and smoothed out. When enhancing lips or facial contours, Restylane adds volume and shape to the treated area.
Which areas can be treated?
Restylane is approved for treating moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds).
It adds natural volume to smooth away moderate facial wrinkles and folds, resulting in a healthier, more youthful appearance.
Restylane Lipp™ has been especially formulated to treat the lips. Restylane Lipp™ enhances lips to give a natural, soft fullness and create more shape.
Less is more. The trick is not to look “done”, but to achieve a natural look.
Does the treatment hurt?
Most people find the injections relatively painless. However, as with all injections, some patients may experience discomfort. A topical anaesthetic will be applied to the area being treated prior to the procedure.
Is it safe?
While some dermal fillers are derived from animal substances, the hyaluronic acid in Restylane is non-animal. This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reactions.
How long does the treatment take?
The treatment generally takes 30 minutes, depending on the area treated.
As Restylane does not require an allergy test and can be administered immediately, there is no waiting for treatments.
How soon will I see results?
Restylane works instantly so you will see the results straightaway.
How long will the effects last?
The improvement you will achieve from the procedure will last anywhere between 9 and 13 months. You will notice a gradual fading of its effect, at which point you may return for a new treatment.
Are there any side effects?
Immediately after the treatment, you can expect slight redness, swelling, tenderness or an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The discomfort is temporary and generally disappears within a few days. After a lip treatment, the lips may become swollen and look somewhat uneven. This can persist for a few days and up to a week.
However mineral make-up can be applied immediately after the procedure.
Is there any downtime?
No, you can resume normal activities immediately.
What is the difference between Restylane and Perlane?
Perlane is composed of larger gel particles than Restylane and is intended for deeper injection to add volume for structural support and lift. Your consultant will be able to tell you which is best suited to you.
How much does it cost?
Restylane treatments start from £180. However, the exact price depends on many factors and can only be confirmed after your free consultation with our medical team.
Our mission is to offer the best advanced treatments at the most competitive prices – we aim to deliver Harley Street service at High Street prices.
Who performs the treatment?
The treatment will be carried out by doctors and nurse practitioners who each have extensive experience in this field.
As well as being qualified to administer treatments, our staff are also able to advise on what is the most appropriate course of treatment for each patient.
