  • Men want Superman actor’s Henry Cavill’s Man Of Steele body
  • Clinic launches first ever 4D six pack procedure
  • Men now account for 50% of all liposuction patients at one clinic

With body beautiful celebrities adorning the covers of all our favourite magazines, it is no surprise that we have become a society obsessed with image.

But it seems that it isn’t just women turning to cosmetic surgery for a helping hand when it comes to getting beach body ready.

One clinic has seen such a surge in enquries from men seeking the latest body sculpting techniques that they’ve launched the first ever 4D liposuction procedure to meet demand.

The procedure, which was launched by the Private Clinic on Harley Street for men desperate to emulate Henry Cavill’s Superman six pack in movie Man Of Steel, claims to shape and sculpt the entire upper torso to provide enhanced definition.

The walk-in, walk-out procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and encompasses 4D VASER liposuction technology to remove unwanted pockets of fat from the body and a fat transfer technique to enhance other areas of the body.

Speaking about the procedure, The Private Clinic, said: ‘Over time, We’ve seen a noticeable increase in the number of men coming to me in search of greater muscle definition and a more athletic, muscular body. These men are healthy and are already in relatively good shape, but they struggle to get the definition that they would like. The 4D body sculpting procedure offers a solution and allows the entire upper torso of a man to be targeted.’

‘Small pockets of unwanted fat are removed from certain areas of the body, such as the stomach or the flanks, and the abdominal muscles are sculpted around to add definition, while small amounts of the unwanted fat which is removed can be gently re-injected into the pecks to fill and plump. The procedure also cleverly accounts for the way in which the patient will move their arms and upper body, and the way they sit and walk.’

‘In this way, We can ensure that the muscle definition we create and the areas of the body that we sculpt around, will remain looking as we would like them to, regardless of whether the patient is moving around, sitting or standing.’

And it seems that demand for summer beach body definition really is soaring. In the first six months of 2013, The Private Clinic treated three times as many men for liposuction as it did in the same period in 2011, while patient numbers from this month have reached an all time high.

Men now make up almost 50 per cent of all liposuction patients across the clinic’s UK-wide practices. And contrary to popular belief, it’s not only young men who are turning to cosmetic procedures. Now, almost 20 per cent of the total number of men who undergo liposuction at the clinic are above the age of 50.

The Private Clinic added: ‘Two or three years ago, We would say that men accounted for 40 per cent of patients; now there is a 50/50 split between men and women, for the very first time. We are also treating a growing number of men in their fifties and sixties, demonstrating that the desire to look good is perhaps continuing far later into life for men, than ever before. The number of men going under the knife to get rid of their so-called man boobs has also increased by 38 per cent in the last year, statistics show.”

Man boobs – or moobs – as they are known, are the bane of many men’s lives, with high-profile sufferers including Ricky Gervais and Simon Cowell.

Chin implants and nose jobs are also on the rise as men grow even more desperate to emulate the chiseled look of Hollywood A-listers Zac Efron, Brad Pitt and Daniel Craig.
