Arm Lift Surgery (Brachioplasty)
The Problem
The upper arms can be a huge storage ground for fat, even if we’re otherwise in shape. Women in particular frequently suffer from what’s commonly referred to as ‘bingo wings’ where the upper arm stores excessive fat and appears disproportionately large to the rest of our figure.
Brachioplasty, also known as an Arm Lift, a is a surgical procedure to remove unwanted fat and excess skin from the upper arms.
The treatment can be used to remove large amounts of loose or sagging skin on the upper arms, tighten supportive tissue, reduce areas of excess fat and lax skin, and help give the upper arm tone and definition. It can be performed alongside liposuction for the most precise results.
Arm lift surgery consultations are available at our clinics in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Manchester and Northampton.
The upper arms can be a huge storage ground for fat, even if we’re otherwise in shape. Women in particular frequently suffer from what’s commonly referred to as ‘bingo wings’ where the upper arm stores excessive fat and appears disproportionately large to the rest of our figure.
As we age, skin loses elasticity meaning that for some, even after losing weight, the area still appears soft and out-of-shape. Liposuction and body contouring treatments cannot tighten skin that has been stretched, leaving even toned arms looking large and undefined.

The Arm Lift Treatment
If you’re suitable, an Arm Lift will normally be performed under general anaesthetic. Incisions will initially be made on the inside of the arm close to the armpit and will normally continue to just above the elbow, through which excess fat and skin is removed and any lax tissues are tightened.
The upper arm reduction and lift treatment takes around two hours on average, though this will vary depending on your individual case. Brachioplasty treatments are often performed alongside liposuction in order to achieve the most precise tone and definition. Your surgeon will always advise you on the specifics of your case during your consultation and how this will affect both your procedure and the final results.
The Arm Lift Results
The upper arm’s circumference is reduced, and the area appears more lean. Excess skin is removed and the remaining skin and tissues are more taught, with clearer definition and shape for a more youthful, toned appearance.
Recovery / Downtime
We normally recommend taking around two weeks off work, though this will depend on your profession and needs. You will usually require a hospital stay overnight, and will always require someone to take you home after treatment and look after you for a couple of days post-procedure.
Any surgical drains or surface stitches will be removed after 5-10 days, and you will usually be advised to wear a surgical stocking following the treatment – particularly if it is performed in conjunction with liposuction. Painkillers should be taken as prescribed and full advice on how to best recover will be given prior to your treatment and before you go home.
