All three treatments are carried out under local anaesthetic and we do our outmost to put you at ease during your treatment. However you may still feel a degree of discomfort, particularly in case of LAUP. Following the LAUP procedure you will experience a sore throat for around 7-14 days. A course of pain killers will be prescribed.
Approximately 15 minutes.
It’s usually recommended to take
a couple of days off, depending upon the nature of your employment. Please note that some occupations will require a longer period of recovery, for example those which are physically demanding (eg manual working, armed forces), or in a working environment that could cause irritation that are dusty, or steamy. If you are unable to cease work for the required period of recovery you should defer your treatment to a more suitable time. This also applies to patients who have similar strenuous hobbies (eg riding, gym activities).
Patients are advised not to drive for 24 hours following snoring surgery. You will need to arrange transport to and from the clinic. If you drive within this time, please note that your insurance may be void.
Intensive sport or gym activity should be avoided for one week following LAUP or Laser Assisted partial turbinectomy surgery.
Public swimming pools and saunas should also be avoided for 2 weeks following LAUP and Laser Assisted partial turbinectomy surgery.
Many patients may notice an instant reduction in snoring following the LAUP procedure. However the healing process can take up to six weeks and during this time some people can continue to snore.
In some cases, multiple treatments may be required but this will be advised by your surgeon at consultation.
