As with all procedures, both Laser Assisted Uvuloplatoplasty (LAUP) and Laser assisted septal reduction do carry some risks and side effects.
Short term effects may include a severe sore throat for 10-14 days and in some cases post-surgical bleeding or infection of the surgical wound may develop.
A blocked nose for 10-14 days, some discharge from the nose for several weeks and bleeding may also occur.
Other side effects include; bruising, swelling, pain or discomfort, bleeding, oozing, sensitivity changes, infection, and irritation.
This list of risks and conditions associated with snoring treatment is not exhaustive. It is important that patients recognise that it is not always possible for the surgeon to predetermine the individual and psychological reaction of patients to post-operative complications. They will however, discuss all of the known risks and side effects prior to your procedure during your consultation.
