The top cosmetic surgery trends of 2015

What are the UK’s most popular treatments and how has the face of cosmetic treatment changed over the past year? We explore new statistics released by the British Association of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons.

After a huge rise in the number of cosmetic treatments in 2013, 2014 appears to be a much more conservative year with 9% fall in the amount of surgical procedures performed in the UK. In a trend BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons) are referring to ‘tweaked not tucked’, new figures released suggest patients are starting to look less at drastic transformation procedures like breast augmentation and abdominoplasty, and are instead focusing on treatments that ‘refine’ what they already have.

Most popular cosmetic surgery procedures - BAAPS

In general, the cosmetic industry saw a 9% drop in the number of surgical cosmetic procedures performed and it was only liposuction that saw a notable increase in the number of treatments taking place with a 7% rise – lifting it from 6th place to 5th in the top ten most commonly performed.  Face/Neck Lifts and Breast Reduction too saw a more conservative rise of 1%, but these three were the only treatments that celebrated a growth. It appears that more figure-changing procedures were the main fallers, with Breast Augmentation procedures dropping by 20%, Rhinoplasty by 24%, Abdominoplasty by 20% and Otoplasty by 20%.
