Pioneering non-invasive cosmetic and
medical treatments since 1983

Banishing redness, quickly and safely

Redness and flushing are just two of the most common symptoms of rosacea. This condition affects thousands of people in the UK, often making sufferers extremely self-conscious and having a serious impact on their work and social lives.

However, advances in light technology have enabled The Private Clinic to pioneer a solution that is fast, effective and safe.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a non-invasive treatment that is proven to reduce redness on the face chest and neck area. It’s pain-free and there’s no downtime either. IPL is suitable for both men and women, for all skin types and colours and can be applied throughout the year.

Your Questions Answered

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a common inflammatory condition of the skin of the face that causes redness that looks like a flush or blush. It typically first appears when people reach their thirties and manifests itself as a flushing or redness on the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. Initially, the effects come and go.

However, Rosecea often progresses to persistent facial redness and red lines which trace the tiny blood vessels of the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead become quite prominent.
People with Rosacea often find that certain lifestyle and environmental factors trigger or aggravate their conditions. Common triggers include hot or spicy foods, alcohol and caffeine, exercise, temperature changes and stress.

Left untreated, the redness becomes more permanent and the tiny blood vessels may become more visible. Patients with pimples, especially older men, may subsequently develop the severe enlargement of the nose called Rhinophyma.

What is Intense Pulse Light (IPL)?

IPL is a system of pulsed light and lasers that works to improve the colour and texture of the skin.

Our laser practitioners use the powerful system to penetrate the skin to the exact depth of the unwanted blood vessels. The IPL energy is absorbed by the blood in the vessels causing the generation of heat. The temperature rise inside the treated blood vessels causes them to collapse and break down with virtually no visible symptoms. Within a short space of time the blood vessel has almost entirely disappeared leaving no visible trace of the treatment on the skin surface.
