The problem: As skin ages, it loses its elasticity and becomes less supple. As a result, lips can lose their fullness, lines can appear around the mouth and nose area, and cheeks can start to look sunken and hollow.
The treatment: Dermal fillers are used to reduce facial lines and wrinkles and to restore plumpness to the lips and cheeks. This skin treatment takes no time at all and the results are instant – you can even put your make-up on immediately afterwards and head straight back to work!
There are many fillers on the market that are substandard. The Private Clinic uses only Allergan and Galderma fillers which are of the highest quality. Also these fillers are not permanent. Furthermore The Private Clinic allows only qualified doctors and nurses to inject fillers.
Restylane
About Restylane: Restylane is used in more anti-ageing treatments than any other demal filler. It’s estimated that since its launch in 1996 over 4 million treatments have been carried out in more than 70 countries. Restylane consists of hylauronic acid – a substance naturally found in the body – and is injected directly into the skin to replace lost volume and smooth out moderate to severe facial wrinkles.
Restylane is available in a number of different formulas to treat specific areas of the face. They include:
Restylane SubQ, which has been specially formulated for facial sculpting and contouring procedures and is used to improve cheek and chin definition.
Restylane Vital, which is used to counter the effects of sun damage by replenishing the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid.
Restylane Lipp, which adds volume, shape and definition to the lips leaving them soft and natural looking.
Perlane, which is also used to smooth out wrinkles and enhance natural features like cheeks.
Juvéderm®
About Juvéderm®: A well know dermal filler proven to last for 6 -12 months. It’s also the first filler of its kind to contain an anaesthetic to make treatment more comfortable. The gel is made from hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring substance in the skin – and is injected under the skin to instantly restore volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds.
Three formulations of Juvéderm® are available to meet the needs of different clients.
- Juvéderm® ULTRA 2 helps to erase moderate lines around the lips, corners of the eyes and those close to the surface of the skin
- Juvéderm® ULTRA 3 smoothes lines between the nose and corner of the mouth and around the lips. It can also be used to gently plump out the lips themselves
- Juvéderm® ULTRA 4 is used to improve the contours of the face and reduce the appearance of the most noticeable lines and folds
- Juvéderm® HYDRATE is used to combat the early signs of collagen depletion and skin de-hydration. it’s not just about eradicating the lines and folds – you also need to address tone and texture to bring back the radiance. Over the years, this radiance dissipates as our bodies’ natural levels of hyaluronic acid diminish due to age, smoking, sun exposure and environmental factors.
The results: Lines and wrinkles are smoothed out and the skin appears plumper, fuller and younger.
Downtime: None. You can go back to work immediately after your treatment and you can apply make-up over the treated area.

Some of your questions answered
What does the treatment involve?
Small amounts of dermal filler are injected directly into the skin using an ultrafine needle. The gel helps to plump up the skin, thereby smoothing out lines and wrinkles. If the lips or facial contours are being treated, the filler adds volume, restores shape and gives a fuller appearance. Our policy is ‘less is more’ so we will always aim to give you a natural, subtle look.
Does the injection hurt?
Most dermal fillers include an added anaesthetic, which makes the treatment virtually painless.
How long does treatment take?
The length of the treatment will depend on the areas being filled, but generally the procedure takes about 30 minutes.
How soon will I see results?
Dermal fillers work instantly so you’ll see the results straight away.
How long will the results last?
The effects will fade gradually but should last between 4 and 13 months depending on the treatment, at which point you can come back to us for a top up treatment. If you decide not to continue with the injections the gel will biodegrade in the skin and simply disappear.
Are there any side effects?
There will be some redness, tenderness and swelling around the treated area immediately after the injection. You might also feel an itching sensation. All side effects should subside after a couple of hours.
What should I do before having a Dermal Filler treatment?
(1)We recommend patients to ensure they go to a reputable clinic. The Private Clinic will celebrate its 30th birthday in 2013, being one of the longest standing company in the cosmetic sector, thanks to our outstanding reputation and our safety standards.
(2)Secondly ask who will be performing the treatment and how much experience they have got. We believe that only healthcare professionals should be allowed to inject ie only doctors or nurses.
(3)Thirdly ask what type of fillers they will be using, whether permanent or temporary, so that you are able to make an informed choice. In our opinion temporary fillers are safer and results more predictable.
(4)Finally should they use a brand you don’t recognize, ask more information on the company producing them. We have always been using only reputable suppliers, such as Galderma for Juviderm, and only products with high safety standards and which are long established.
