The problem: Gynecomastia – more commonly known as man boobs – affects around 15% of adult men in the UK and is caused when excess fat develops in a man’s breast area. This fat can be very hard to shift, even if a weight loss plan has worked for the rest of the body, and the resulting ‘man boobs’ can cause embarrassment and can undermine confidence. The good news is there are safe, effective ways to tackle this problem that don’t involve surgery or long recovery periods.
The treatment: Vaser liposuction is a minimally invasive treatments for gynecomastia that can give you the body you want without the pain and risk of major surgery and without the need of general anaesthetic. It is less invasive than traditional liposuction and because it differentiates between fat and important tissues such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissues, the risk of damage to these tissues is practically eliminated.
Featured on Tatler 2011 Guide of Beauty and Cosmetic Surgery, the Microcannulas Technique or MicroLipo is also ideal for male breast reduction. Cannulas less than 3 mm in diameter are used to remove the fat which means there is less risk of irregularities and depressions in the skin compared to regular liposuction.
The results: Pockets of fat in your chest area can successfully be removed, improving the overall shape and contours of your body.
Downtime: Downtime is minimal and you can get back to your daily routine almost immediately. However because there may be some bruising and swelling, it’s best to wait one to two weeks before you hit the gym or do any other rigorous physical activity.

What does the treatment involve?
With Vaser liposuction the fat is liquefied and removed from the body through a gentle suction process. Less invasive than traditional liposuction, Vaser lipo is a walk-in walk-out procedure which doesn’t require hospital stay or long time away from work or sport activities. Results are very soft and natutal looking.

What is the difference with Smartlipo?
Smartlipo is an older type of laser lipo that involved melting fat with a laser probe. However, the melted fat was not removed, instead it was left in the body and naturally eliminated over a number of months. Results were slow and often disappointing.
The Vaser procedure is quicker, less invasive and can remove greater volumes of fat than the older technology. And because it stimulates collagen production, the skin is tightened, which improves the overall appearance of the chest area.
Does the treatment hurt?
Both Vaser and MicroLipo are carried out under local anaesthetic, so you’ll feel no pain during your treatment.
How long does it take?
The procedure generally lasts between 1 and 2 hours.
How soon will I see results?
You will see results straight away. However, your chest area will show the most improvement in the months after the procedure.
How long will the results last?
Once the fat has been removed it is gone for good, and if you follow a healthy diet and exercises plan your man boobs will be gone for good too!
Are there any side effects?
There will be some swelling and bruising after the procedure, however this is considerably less that you’d experience with traditional liposuction techniques. We’ll give you a special compression garment to wear after treatment which will help minimise swelling and bruising.
