The problem: Cellulite is a problem that affects 95% of British women of all ages, shapes and sizes – even some very slim women have cellulite – and every year in the UK we spend millions of pounds on creams and gels trying to get rid of those stubborn dimpled, fatty deposits. Cellulite can make some women feel very self-conscious, particularly in summer when long skirts and trousers just aren’t comfortable, and it is very frustrating when even the strictest of diets don’t seem to help.
What causes cellulite?
A number of factors contribute to the development of cellulite. They include:
- Weight gain
- Genetic predisposition to fat accumulation
- Hormone changes throughout life, such as pregnancy and menopause
- Loss of tone and elasticity due to ageing
- Lack of exercise and a sedentary lifestyle
- Smoking
- Stress
- Crash diets
- Poor nutrition
Treatments: We offer two different types of treatment for cellulite here at The Private Clinic – Mesotherapy and Velashape
About Mesotherapy: Mesotherapy is a medical technique that was developed in France in 1952 to improve circulation and treat conditions like rheumatology, sports traumas, infectious and vascular diseases. It has subsequently proved to be a very effective cellulite treatment and also is also good for fluid retention, lymphatic drainage, localised fat reduction and skin rejuvenation.
A specially prepared mixture of vitamins, homeopathic ingredients, amino acids and medications are injected into the problem area. This stimulates the fat cells and causes them to break away from the network of connective tissues in the skin. The excess deposits of fat are then dissolved and excreted through the bloodstream by the kidneys and bowel
About Velashape: Velashape™ is the only FDA approved solution for cellulite and we offer it here at The Private Clinic. Velashape™ can be used to get rid of cellulite on most areas of the body, including the thighs, buttocks and abdomen.
Velashape™ is the first and only cellulite removal technology that combines radio frequency, infra-red, vacuum and mechanical massage to tackle the appearance of cellulite. The treatment boosts circulation and lymphatic drainage and safely delivers heat into fatty tissue to target loose or dimpled skin and firm problem areas.
The results: With both treatments you can expect to see a marked improvement in the appearance of cellulite. Your skin will look and feel firmer and smoother, and blood flow and lymphatic drainage will be improved in the treated area.
Downtime: None, you can get back to normal activities right away.
Our team: We are the UK’s leading authority in non-invasive and minimally invasive cosmetic surgery and have some of the most experienced practitioners in the country working with us. Mesotherapy and Veloshape procedures are carried out by highly trained nurses and skin therapists who all have extensive experience in this field.
Some of your questions answered
Does the treatment hurt?
With Mesotherapy you may feel a little discomfort from the injection, but this is minimal. Velashape™ is designed to accommodate your sensitivity and comfort level and most patients say it feels like a warm deep tissue massage
How long does the treatment take?
Mesotherapy sessions last 10 to 20 minutes.
Veloshape sessions last between 45 minutes and 90 minutes.
At The Private Clinic we focus on more areas per session than other clinics to ensure visible results. A standard course of treatment lasts six weeks with one session per week.
How soon will I see results?
Your skin should start to feel smoother, tighter and firmer after your third session and after your sixth session you should start to notice a reduction in the circumference of the treated area.
How long will the results last?
We recommend a top-up session every 6 months to maintain the results.
Are there any side effects?
Mesotherapy injections may cause some minor bruising and swelling. With Veloshape your skin may feel warm after the treatment and the skin may also appear red. Any side effects you do experience with both treatments should disappear in a few hours.
