Wrinkle Relaxing Injections
When you look in the mirror are you becoming increasingly aware of the signs of ageing? Frown lines between the eyes, forehead lines and crow’s feet afflict most of us as we get older.
Still the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedure, the treatment known as BOTOX® has been approved for cosmetic use under the name Vistabel®. It is the most effective treatment for subtly tackling deep wrinkles and lines.
This quick treatment not only treat existing lines and wrinkles, it’s also one of the only cosmetic treatments that can actually prevent them from forming. The constant creasing of the skin by the underlying muscles results in permanent wrinkles – by reducing excessive facial movements, muscle relaxant injections prevent wrinkles and lines from forming.
As the UK’s leading company in the non-invasive cosmetic sector, we attract some of the country’s most-respected dermatologists and aestheticians. This means you can relax knowing that your individually tailored treatment will achieve just the results that you are hoping for.
Your Questions Answered
What does the treatment involve?
Botox was first used in the 1970s to treat squinting in children. Its cosmetic potential was then recognised and it has been used to treat wrinkles since the late 80’s. Botulinum Toxin is currently one of the top-ranking non-surgical cosmetic treatments in the UK for moderate to severe frown lines.
The Botulinum Toxin works by temporarily reducing the contractions of the facial muscles that cause frown lines. It is usually used on the upper third of the face, to tackle frown lines, forehead creases and crows’ feet around the eyes. Lines around the lips and corners of the mouth are also treatable.
Untreated areas of the face are not affected, so you can still smile and frown, but the skin on the treated areas won’t wrinkle as much as usual.
Very small amounts are injected into targeted areas using a tiny needle. This acts by blocking the impulse from the nerve to the muscles, which cause lines and wrinkles. The muscles are then relaxed, preventing contractions.
Following the treatment the skin over the muscles remains smooth and even for up to six months.
Does the injection hurt?
Because the needle is so fine and such small substance quantities are used, the pain is minimal. No sedation or local anaesthesia is required.
How long does the treatment take?
Treatment takes about 15 minutes, and you can resume normal activities immediately.
How soon will I see results?
It may take two to three days to see an improvement and up to one week to see the overall effects. Then the skin will appear smooth and have a youthful, glowing appearance, allowing you to smile with confidence.
How long will the effects last?
The improvement you will achieve from the procedure will last anywhere up to six months. You will notice a gradual fading of its effect, at which point you may return for a new treatment.
The early clinical studies indicate that the duration of the treatment’s benefits is increased over time so that you should require injections less frequently in the future.
Are there any side effects?
Botulinum Toxin injections have been used safely and effectively for over ten years to treat many neurological disorders. Each year thousands of patients receive Botox® treatments for a variety of conditions. Muscle relaxant injections have quickly became a popular treatment for reversing the visible signs of ageing.
It is injected in such small quantity that is not harmful. The most common side effects are temporary and localised bruising, slight redness of the skin and occasionally slight swelling at the injection site. These side effects correct themselves as the product wears off.
Is there any downtime?
No, you can resume normal activities immediately.
How much does it cost?
Treatments start from £200.
