Lack of sleep ”causes health problems”
An expert has pointed out that having a good night’’s sleep is essential for people’’s mental wellbeing, which may interest those with snoring problems.
Marianne Davey, director of the British Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Association, pointed out that people who fail to rest adequately at night often find they are excessively tired the next day.
She explained: “This can often cause depression, anxiety, stress and for snorers they often experience social, psychological, employment and relationship difficulties.”
To help alleviate some of these problems, the expert recommended people attempt to keep a regular bedtime and avoid alcohol late at night in order to make rest more likely.
According to a survey carried out by Bupa UK Health Insurance, Brighton is the city which has the highest proportion of people getting seven or more hours sleep a night, at 67 per cent.
In addition, London is the city which gets the least amount of sleep, with 54 per cent attaining less than seven hours a night.
