How the treatment works

The CoolGlide deliver pulses of light energy which cause the blood within the vein to coagulate.

The blood flow is diverted to veins deeper below your skin's surface, where it should be.

The treatment does not involve painful injections.

What veins can you treat?

At The Private Clinic we can treat large veins as well as smaller facial tread veins, from all parts of the body.

Small, facial veins can be treated quickly without bruising or complication.

Spider veins and large blue leg veins can also be treated with excellent results.

At The Private Clinic we offer a free consultation where our skilled medical team will assess which veins can be treated and the best course of treatment for you.

Suitable for women & men of all skin types

The system is suitable for both men and women.

Different than other laser technologies, the CoolGlide system allows treatment of patients with dark, light or tanned skin with outstanding results and minimal bruising.

How many treatments will I need?

Often patients find that two or three treatments are sufficient. However, the number of treatments necessary depends on the number, colour, and size of the vessels being treated.

During your free medical consultation we will be able to advise you on the appropriate treatment type and length required.

Does the treatment hurt?

Most patients experience a stinging sensation as the pulses of energy are delivered through the hand piece.

Although no local anaesthetic or pain medication is usually required, some patients opt to use a topical anaesthetic prior to treatment. Following the treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent.

What happens after the treatment?

Following your treatment some redness or bruising may occur. When larger veins are treated, a tan or brownish pigment may persist for a few weeks or months following treatment.

Patients generally resume most normal activities immediately. However, it is recommended that you avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after treatment.

The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun. As always it is a good idea to limit your sun exposure.

Are there any side effects?

Although many patients report few, if any, side effects, those most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin.

These effects typically last for less than 24 hours. Some patients may experience bruising and, in very rare instances, blistering may occur.

Before your treatment our medical staff will go through all aspects of the treatment.

When will I see results?

Most patients find that the majority of the treated veins have shown significant improvement within two to six weeks of treatment.

However, your final permanent results may be apparent after several months.

Who performs the treatment?

Our treatments are carried out by doctors and nurse practitioners who have several years of experience in this field.

Each has the relevant training required to ensure that they give the very best of care and attention to our patients and are committed to working towards the desired result.
