Age more gracefully

The extent of the changes in facial aging requires a global approach rather than a correction of a few individual lines.

The wide-ranging benefits of Sculptra include the gradual and natural rejuvenation of the face, to plumping areas of sagging skin.

At The Private Clinic we combine the most advanced technology with a world class medical team to offer you a range of treatments that will rejuvenate and restore your skin in subtle stages.

A free consultation is the best way to start.

Our expert practitioners will talk you through the different treatment options available to you and advise on what is the most appropriate course of action. With most of our treatments you can return to normal activity immediately, with friends and colleagues none the wiser.

What is Sculptra?

In time, your skin loses its full, firm, youthful appearance. This is the result of the natural ageing process.

With ageing, your skin becomes thinner and loses its natural elasticity. As a result, it becomes loose and starts to wrinkle. Fat tissue which also helps to fill out your face is lost. This reduction in skin volume can make your face look thin and narrow so that you may possibly look older than you are. Fortunately, Sculptra™ can help smooth out lines and wrinkles and restore facial contour.

Sculptra is the ideal solution for people considering non-surgical facial rejuvenation. Unlike surgical options, it provides gradual, natural-looking results through non invasive procedures.

Common temporary fillers do not provide long term reduction of wrinkles and creases. Permanent implants remain for many years and therefore cannot accommodate continued changes in appearance that occur with age. Sculptra™ is a unique substance which is gradually and naturally broken down by the body, however the results can last for up to 3 years.

Sculptra is ideal for:

- Deep folds between the nose and the mouth (nasolabial folds)
- Folds around the corners of the mouth (marionette lines)
- Sunken cheeks (cheek augmentation)
- Wrinkling in the cheeks or chin
- Deep scars

How does Sculptra work?

The main ingredient of Sculptra™, poly-L-lactic acid, has been used successfully in surgical procedure for more than 25 years and over 150000 patients have been treated world-wide since 1999. Sculptra ™ has been specially developed to repair contour defects in the face. As it is immunology inert, no allergy tests are necessary before beginning the treatment.

Sculptra™ is an injectable treatment that works in the lower layers of the skin by stimulating the build up of the body’s own collagen to smooth out lines and wrinkles and firm the treated areas. Furthermore its volumising effect restores lost facial volume, resulting in a fuller younger-looking face.

Sculptra is long-lasting biocompatible and biodegradable.

Is the treatment painful?

As with all injections you may feel some discomfort. It may be that you notice a brief burning sensation at the injection site. A topical anaesthetic will be applied to the area being treated prior to the procedure.

When can I see some results?

Sculptra takes time to work and results should be noticeable after approximately 6 weeks. The number of necessary injections depends on many factors. After the first treatment, your practitioner will recommend whether you need any subsequent treatments and if so how many.

Generally, 2 to 3 treatments may be necessary to obtain the required results.

However, differently to other treatments which require frequent top-up sessions, after the end of your Sculptra™ programme the results will last up to 3 years.

How long does Sculptra last?

Clinical studies have shown that the aesthetic improvements obtained with Sculptra™ have persisted for up to 3 years in many patients*.

*results can differ depending on age, wrinkling, life style and other individual factors.

Are there any side effects?

The most common side effect with the use of Sculptra includes injection-related side effects at the site of injection such as bleeding, tenderness or pain, redness, bruising, or swelling. These effects generally resolve in 2-6 days.

What do I need after the treatment?

Your Healthcare Professional will give you special aftercare instructions. These include massaging the treated areas of your face in the first few days after the treatment. All you need is a few minutes twice a day.

Who performs the treatment?

Sharon Brown is one of the country leading experts in administering Sculptra™.

She is also one of only two nurses on the advisory panel of Sanofi – Aventis which distribute Sculptra™ in the UK and is their designated trainer both within the NHS and Private Sector.

Sharon’s interest in Sculptra started in 2003 when she was asked by the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital to set up a nurse led service to correct facial lipoatrophy (loss of volume) in HIV patients. During this time Sharon became aware of how the loss of volume de-feminised, caused extreme anxiety and poor body image in women with HIV associated lipoatrophy.

Since then Sharon has trained and supervised nurses in clinics all over the UK.

More recently she has been involved in assessing and short listing candidates for the RCN Scholarship for Graduate Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine held at the University of Greenwich. This will be the first qualification for Healthcare Professionals in the use of cosmetic fillers.

Sharon practises at The Private Clinic using Sculptra™ in aesthetic and anti-ageing treatments for the reducing of facial lines and wrinkles and for adding lost volume to give clients a natural looking fuller face.

“For me aesthetic treatments means working with the face to achieve a natural contouring. The consultation with the patient prior to treatment is of utmost importance to achieve the desired results”.
