How does IPL work?
The treatment is quick, gentle and non-invasive.
A hand held treatment head is placed against the skin, which is covered with a cooling
conducting gel. The pulses of light are delivered through a filter which is selected based
on the patient’s skin type.
The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by the pigmented lesions. The body natural
healing process will remove the injured tissue giving the skin a more luminous, younger
looking skin.
Most patients feel little or no pain, but for those who are extra sensitive, topical
anaesthetic can be used.
IPL Skin Treatments using Photorejuvenation often consist of full-face treatment or
treatment of isolated body areas like the hands or chest.
Patients can return to normal activities immediately after treatment.
How many treatments
do I need?
The treatment is generally administered as a series of between 3 to 5 treatments at 3 - 4
week intervals.
Most patients will be able to experience a difference immediately after the procedure.
Some patients have some redness which will resolve after about half an hour.
Most will experience some tightness over the skin as well as reduction in fine lines just
after one session only. However the best effects are seen after about 3 – 4 sessions.
How much does it cost?
IPL treatments starting from £200. However, the exact price we quote is completely
individual and depends on many factors and can only be properly determined by our fully
qualified Doctor or Nurse who will assess your condition and guide you to the most
suitable treatment options.
